A great, real experience about camping.
Don't neglect the demo! It's totally different content (sort of a prequel? Maybe a sequel?)

It's difficult to scrounge up enough words for a review because this game is so short and sweet, but I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Charming characters with fun dialogue, a beautiful art style.. felt a lot like reading an indie comic. Just a really nice little experience

My Experience
Wide Ocean Big Jacket is outstanding. I had a grin on my face for almost the entirety of my playtime. Although the events of the game could easily be described as mundane, they are presented with so much charm and character. The game could easily translate into an excellent film; however, the player would then not be so involved in the comedic timing.
The text overlays corresponding to various actions often made me laugh, and Mord (the teenage girl) is so refreshingly exuberant about EVERYTHING - it's one of the things I've lost a bit as I've gotten older, and I would like to get back in touch with that part of myself. Although there aren't any real "bombshell" life-changing moments for the characters in the game, I certainly found myself thinking about why and how we develop traditions and about the various "milestones" of life.
If you don't require a particularly high stimulation threshold and need your games to be challenging above all, you should absolutely play Wide Ocean Big Jacket. It will make your day.

One perfect hour of content. Extremely cozy with genuinely wholesome and funny dialog, a rarity.

I have to admit that I first thought Wide Ocean Big Jacket was a bit too twee for its own good. I liked the writing and characters, but it all felt very slight. Not that the game or its plot became more weighty, but I came to see its light touch and its decision not to introduce major stakes or conflict as an asset. There are exchanges that are beautifully sweet without ever becoming sentimental, and there's a conversation towards the end that is handled wonderfully well. (Chances are you'll know it when you get there.) The juxtaposition between the kids and the grownups is done very nicely without making either seem phony or twee. If you like walking sims, indie comics and the tone of, say, Night in the Woods, this one is well worth checking out.
