Growing up as a neurodivergent kid, full of imagination, hopes, and dreams, in a dysfunctional family where no one truly hears, sees, or cares enough for you made this game quite hard to play in retrospect.

Despite being a quote and quote prologue for Life is Strange 2 this game works perfectly on its own. Therefore, don't worry about wanting to play it even if you don't feel playing LiS 2 inmidietly after.
Having said all this, the story encapsulates perfectly the wonders and innocense of childhood while talking about more serious topics like: trauma, domestic violence, grief and others in the timespawn of only 2h. Proving you don't alaways need a 60h+ game to tell a meaningful and captivating tale.
Definetly recommended if you are looking for a short yet deep graphic adventure.

Leave it to Don't Nod to turn what is essentially a promotional demo into a masterclass of short form non-expository storytelling. You can play this with no previous experience of the Life Is Strange games, and with no additional context beyond what you observe and interact with in this game. Dialogue is limited, sometimes the way its limited speaks more than you could fit into pages of exposition.
Only small con is that a couple of the puzzles are expecting quite a reach from the player. Don't feel bad if you have to google a couple things, it won't detract from the experience.

“The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit” is a little narrative gem from Dontnod. With a touching and heartfelt story, the game sensitively captures the imagination of a child and the challenges of loss. Hi.
I'm sharing my gameplay of the Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit :)
Summary:
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a narrative-driven adventure game set in the Life is Strange universe. It tells the story of Chris Eriksen, a 9-year-old boy dealing with the recent loss of his mother. Chris lives with his emotionally distant and alcoholic father, Charles, in a small rural town. To escape his difficult home life, Chris imagines himself as a superhero named Captain Spirit, going on adventures and fighting imaginary villains.
Over the course of the game, players guide Chris through his Saturday routine. Tasks like cleaning up, doing laundry, or decorating the house for Christmas are interwoven with rich daydreams that turn mundane moments into exciting superhero missions. Players can explore the house and yard, uncover pieces of Chris’s family history, and witness the emotional toll the loss has had on both Chris and his father.
The game features a heartfelt narrative, touching on themes of grief, imagination, and childhood resilience, with choices that subtly affect the story. Though short—lasting around 1 to 2 hours—it serves as a prelude to Life is Strange 2, introducing characters and events that will play a role in that story.
