This is a casual day in the life of a wholesome kid with a vivid imagination.
He fancies himself as Captain Spirit and goes on adventures around the house!
Seemingly superficial, the game tackles heavy issues like family loss, substance abuse, and even domestic violence (intentional or otherwise).
It does all this with a velvet touch that keeps things innocent for younger players while mature gamers will immediately recognize how deep things go.
The graphics are sharp and pleasant to look at.
The soundtracks that you can play using a record player are actually invigorating and dreamy, the sort of feel-good songs that comfort you.
The soundtracks that play at key cut scenes are so, so good, you'd want to keep listening to them on a loop.
The voice acting, especially of the kid, Chris, is very well done. Kudos to everyone involved. This really might be the most authentic voice acting of someone that young I have ever witnessed in any media.
The gameplay is simple and fun. It does have a few puzzles that you need to guess their answer, like a certain padlock of someone. You think to yourself, Maybe he'll use a number close to his heart, and you need to have looked around the house to find what that might be. That's just an example!
The game is tied to Life Is Strange 2, whose protagonists, Daniel and Sean, may or may not appear at some point and meet our very own Captain Spirit!
I highly recommend playing this game - even if you're not into the Life Is Strange storylines.
It's short and very sweet.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is an absolutely beautiful looking game. It looks better than Life is Strange, and Life is Strange Before the Storm. The game itself has a very "cool" feel to it, and it's fun to be in the mind of a 10 year old :) As far as story there isn't much of it really. The only real story is basically what the title of the game implies, and that makes it pretty fun to play. It's just too bad that it was so short, as intended. I just wish they had made a full fledged game like Life is Strange out of this, or made a "Life is Strange"-esque game with superheroes and super-villains because I think that would have turned out really well.
The game is FREE, and it's short. But it's definitely worth the 3-4 hours that you put into it. Also remember that the choices that you make in this game, will be reflected in Life is Strange 2 if you own it, and decide to play it.

“The trouble with being a daydreamer who doesn’t say much is that the teachers at school, especially those who don’t know you very well, are likely to think you’re rather stupid. Or, if not stupid, then dull. No one can see the amazing things that are going on in your head.” ― Ian McEwan, The Daydreamer

This is what I hate video games, it just appeals to the male fantasy of being a little boy again with nothing in the world but your imagination and alcoholic father reminding you that your mother's death is your fault.

A short and beautiful story to fill the gap between episodes 1 and 2 of Life is Strange 2.

i just finished the first episode of life is strange 2 and it recommended me to play this before entering episode 2 so i did.
this lil game was way more entertaining than the actual LiS2 (at least from what i have seen so far since i only finished ep 1) it kinda made me sad that this wasn't the actual game instead lol.
i can relate alot to chris from when i was a kid which gives me both comfort and sadness. we were just kids doing our best for our single-dad who was dealing with anger issues and took it out on us. i was also super creative and loved playing and imagining things as an only child as well!

Nice additional part of Life is Strange 2 to discover.
It's free to play, short and chill ; you sure should play it before LiS2 episode 2. Beautiful and touching ambience.
Chris is so adorable. Be brave buddy. ♥
