Hello friends,
Today i will review the game Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair. This is the sequel to the game Yooka Laylee. You can also find this game on steam. This game is designed differently than the original game, as this is more of a side scrolling platformer, and the original game was more 3d platformer. The change might be the reason this sequel was not as good as the original game. As for the name, it is correct. There is a level that has a impossible Lair. It is quite hard, but being very slow and patient, you can complete the "Impossible Lair". The game also features a overhead map like super mario world had. There are interactive items in the world that can change the structure of different levels to change them to a alternative version with more collectibles. This mixes up the levels a bit as the alternative versions can be quite different. The game also features beautiful graphics and nice music to platform thru. It is quite easy to get all the achievements in this game as most are just getting certain items from the overworld, finding items in the levels like TWIT coints, or buying certain items from Twoser Snake on the overworld map. Anyways, here is my PROS and CONS list:
PROS:
- A beautiful nee world for Yooka Laylee to explore.
- Overworld map with many changeable things on it to change levels.
- 2.5 D side style platforming.
- Buyable upgrades. Also can find some new one
- Easy to get achievements makes it a game to get for achievement hunters.
- Great music on each level that makes the levels feel more alive.
- This game would be perfect for younger players, but be careful, the difficulty dips very hard towards levels near the end of the game.
CONS:
- Much different than the original game, this one is a side platforming game, getting rid of the 3d style of the original game style.
- The last level or the "impossible Lair" is actually quite difficult. Collecting all the bee guards can help, but players may find this quite hard if not used to other platformers.
Recommended Game. With how easy the achievements are to get, and how fun the platforming is in the game, it is quite fun. The last level does live up to it's name being almost impossible to complete. Using a full bee shield can help with the impossible though, so players need to collect every bee guard to get thru the whole level.

Longer, better & cheaper than Super Mario Wonder.
Absolute hidden gem of a platformer.

What an incredible game, the platforming godlike, the overworld genius. In the top 3 platformers of all time no question. Stays true to the inspiration, and brings nothing but improvements to the already tried and true formula. If you're on the fence about the game, its time to get off and buy the game, you won't regret it.

"Banjo Kazooie", "Conkers Bad Fur Day" and "Donkey Kong Country", if you like(d) any of those games, from the good old times when you were still young and had no arthritis, then this might be for you. Also perfect for the Steam Deck.

It's good, but not great. It definitely has flaws, and you'll feel them, but it's not so awful that you'll want to rage quit. Just be warned: it will ask you to collect things to continue the story.
