Voodoo Vince Remastered
The classic character platformer is back for the first time in over 13 years, and now in glorious high definition! Vince’s adventure takes him from the streets of New Orleans to the depths of a Louisiana bayou to find the whereabouts of his keeper, Madam Charmaine. In true voodoo style, Vince encounters and defeats quirky monsters and villains … by kicking his own butt! By racing under a falling safe, jumping into a high-speed blender, or leaping under falling rubble, Vince is sure to defeat his enemies—all while managing to escape completely unscathed. Voodoo combat action: Players can employ more than 30 voodoo attacks that do outrageous things to Vince, but it's the monsters who end up hurting! Unlike in other games, players must actually USE dangers and hazards, instead of running from them. Falling safes, prickly pushpins, and bolts of lightning bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "no pain, no gain."

Voodoo Vince was a part of my childhood, and I'm very pleased that measures were taken to remaster and preserve this platforming gem. It's a comfort game for me. The gameplay is pretty simple to learn, and the game has style. The soundtrack is great, and I'm pretty sure there's a unique track for each stage. The game is set in New Orleans, so you'll hear a lot of upbeat jazz which is contrasted nicely with some more downtempo tracks on certain levels. There are unique puzzles that break up the action. The collectables are fun and actually reward you. This is really is a fantastic game and if you haven't played it you should. It should be in text books on how to make a good game.

An OG Xbox classic got the remaster treatment as it deserved!
PROS: Clever gameplay with well-designed levels; Tons of variety in tasks; Collectibles done right; Has a sense of humor; Well-defined atmosphere with fantastic Jazz music; Great game for those who want a 100% completion achievement
CONS: Some camera problems; Occasional performance issues
CONCLUSION: Voodoo Vince: Remastered is the definitive version of the classic original Xbox platformer. It's still got the same delightful soundtrack, unique New Orleans atmosphere and laugh-out-loud humor that you remember from the original, but only better. Whether solving puzzles, piloting a submarine or running yourself over with a train to defeat the newest mini boss, the gameplay always feels fresh thanks to its diversity. There are hundreds of collectibles, but they're purposeful and fun to collect. There are a few small downsides left over from the original game like occasional camera problems, and there are a couple areas where the frame rate feels sluggish, but the issues aren't breakers. If you were already a fan of Vince, Voodoo Vince: Remastered this will be a worthy testament to his cult classic legacy. Not only that, but the game holds up well enough to woo a new generation of fans both young or old.

My childhood (and adulthood) favourite. Fun to play, satisfying to complete 100%.
Quirky characters, easy to control, great music, a variety of levels and locations...
The remastered textures and graphics add so much more life to the game. I've always adored the lighting and colours in this game. The purples, blues and greens make everything so mysterious and magical. The soundtrack is one of my favourites too.
If you have played and enjoyed other platformers from the time like Psychonauts, Blinx and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, I think you would enjoy this too. Fans of quirky/spooky media like Tim Burton movies would also enjoy this one.

Finally found a game that was always lingering in the back of my head from when I was a kid. Never beat the game so I thought to give it a go now. All I have to say is this game is unexpectedly difficult! first few levels are a stroll but the last 3 areas are pretty unforgiving. Some of the comments are extremely funny. Overall I loved the game and recommend picking it up!

Loved this game then love it now. I beat it 100% and got all the achievements. give it a try if you have not already. One of the best platformers I have played it's a fun time with light humor some what funny characters. very unique for it's time. 8/10 there are some Og stuff that are not there in this remaster but not enough for me to dislike it. Still worth it

What an oddity. Still feels like a fever dream playing this game again. I recall it on the original Xbox. A console starving for more mascot platformers. This game, it's different. It really is, more of an adult tone in it's setting.
Voodoo Vince is sarcastic and monotone in delivery. He's not enjoying much of anything being thrust into this situation, and coping with it by a lot of 4th wall breaking sass. You'd think that would be a detriment to the game but it works. The art style very unique, odd. I do like it. Takes a while but the game and it's universe does grow on you. I have to admit the humor, does fall flat more often than not for me. Still far better written than most of the games released now.
Some aspects of the platforming and level design aren't the best. I've had some odd collision detection here and there. Various parts of the levels are frustrating. The collectables though are really worth getting. A lot of unique Voodoo Doll Death dealing animations. You can tell the developers and animators had a lot of fun making those.
All and all a weird but charming bit of history. I'm glad this game is on steam and I highly recommend it. Just for the uniqueness and strangeness of it.
