IF you are wondering "is this game like XCOM: UFO Defence" then the answer is yes! It has been tons of fun to revisit that time so far. This strikes me as an homage to 1993, it is not a clone it is more of a remake. Some of the sound effects are even the same! I have not had any crashes. I prefer this game over Phoenix Point and Xenonauts. I have been wanted a modern UFO defence and here it is. Enjoy!
EDIT: There have been some bugs I have experienced, like an alien spawning inside of a wall so that mission is impossible to complete. This doesn't change my review, still hours of fun but an important point to manage expectations.

An oldschool hardcore game. Better be familiar with another X-COM game or clone, since this game won't guide you. I play for turn-based tactics, so i won't comment on geoscape or lore.
My tactical missions started poorly. I was getting "A hidden unit kills " messages frustratingly often. Did i mention it is a hardcore game? Fortunately, you can tweak it to your liking. There are plenty of cool settings in "Bman's ease of use settings". For me, setting vision range of my soldiers to match that of enemies changed the game from suicidal runs to true tactical missions.
All in all, after a rocky start, it is an enjoyable game.

Loved the original UFOET, and love the new Platinum version! Not a huge fan of the updated animated style avatars for the soldiers, but other than that,, its great. They brought the best of UFO2ET and implemented it beautifully here. Mortars, New Aliens, New Tech. Well worth the price if you are a UFOET fan!
