About the GameTurmoil offers players a visually charming, tongue-in-cheek take on the simulation genre inspired by the 19th century oil rush in North America. Get a taste of the rush and rivalry of the time as you earn your way to become a successful oil entrepreneur. As you make money digging up and selling oil, the town will grow along with you.

Lease land at the town auction and search for oil. Build a rig, create an efficient pipe network and bring up the oil to store it in silos. Sell the oil at the best times to maximize profits. Then buy essential upgrades in town to cope with rock, gas and ice. Acquire more town shares than your competitors in a bid to become the new mayor.

  • A campaign where you build your rags-to-riches oil baron career and beat your rivals.

  • Dozens of upgrades and new tools to improve your oil mining operations.

  • Meet the town’s characters in the saloon and make shady business deals.

  • Play single game mode to get one of literally millions of procedurally generated levels and earn as much as you can in one year.

  • Steam Achievements, Badges, Trading Cards and Cloud Saving.

  • Lease land at the town auction and search for oil using a dowser, mole or scanner.

  • Maximize your profits by using natural gas to boost the oil price.

  • Outbid your competitors at the stock auction.

Truth will rise above falsehood as oil above water.
In-depth analysis further down.
🟩 Pros
🟥 Cons

• Simplistic and easy to understand art-style
• Although repetitive at times, the game really knows how to
keep you on the edge all the way
• It has it's learning curve, and feels challenging at all times
• Difficult in expert-mode, and requires being extra
careful how you spend your resources

• Rather too simple for my own taste and the on going
repetitive chores makes it difficult to enjoy at times

Content & Replay Value
Turmoil is a simple management game, where you're pressured by time during each mission. Although the game offers a challenge, I can only see myself replaying the campaign once more because I don't get to beat the challenging NPC's.
Is it worth buying?
Yes and no. I'd honestly avoid buying this at full price. If you want to get a taste of the Turmoil experience, try the mobile version who is free there.
Verdict: Decent
Rating Chart Here
Although the best part of this game is the challenge that keeps you on edge from start to finish, the game doesn't offer any spectacular gameplay that could keep you hooked for countless hours.
Turmoil is a oil & money management game, where you're tasked to compete with 3 more adversaries to purchase and own land and become the mayor of the town.
⚔ Gameplay:
Rate: ★★☆☆☆
In game you manage your resources and try to be on top of the competition. Your role is to try to get from each land as much oil and make as much profit as possible. After a while, the game becomes repetitive and the only thing that kills the tediousness is the upgrades you pick along the way.
😄 Fun:
Rate: ★★☆☆☆
I believe the most fun part for this game is the challenge you have with your adversaries, who are trying to buy more shares than you. The game itself can become rather boring after you catch the ropes and if you're a completionist you may find it way too long to get what you want. A little challenge for some people may bring some joy.
🏞 Visuals:
Rate: ★★☆☆☆
This game takes a simplistic, but effective approach. I can't say it's anything spectacular, but overall, the art-style fits the theme of the game quite well.
🔊 Sound:
Rate: ★★☆☆☆
Music is clean, but repetitive. After a couple of hours of gaming you're presented with little to choose from. I wish there was more music. Sound effects are decent, I can't complain.
📖 Story:
Rate: ★☆☆☆☆
This game follows a campaign, where you choose to be one of the oil hunters. Your job is to gather as much profit and beat the competition. The narrative is very scarce and offers little depth to what's going on. In fact, I dare to say that there's barely any story besides trying to become the mayor and beating your competition.
🧵 Length:
☑️ Short
🔲 Average
🔲 Long
🔲 Unlimited
The normal-mode is rather short and can be finished in 6-8 hours. Going expert mode, will take you roughly the same amount, depending how good or bad you manage your profits and resources.
🧩 Difficulty:
🔲 Easy
☑️ Normal
☑️ Hard
🔲 Brutally Hard
🔲 Impossible
Depending on the mode you'll play on, you can expect a challenging experience throughout. The normal-mode feels just right, while the expert-mode can become rather difficult. Hopefully the game prepares you a little in normal-mode for what the expert-mode has to offer.
Turmoil offers a challenging, but rather blunt experience for managing your resources and money. I think this game is worth checking out on mobile as mechanics are rather simple and easy to learn, yet each step at the time you may encounter difficulties. I don't recommend this game to people who look for a deep management experience, but do recommend it to people who seek a little challenge.
