TT Isle of Man
For bikers, there are two types of speed races: the Isle of Man TT and the rest. No other race is as gruelling for the motorbikes and demanding for the riders. Take up the challenge of the Snaefell Mountain course: all 37.73 miles faithfully reproduced with the champions and their bikes. Memorise each section of the course, round each bend to perfection, keep your concentration throughout the 6 laps, get the best time and write your name alongside the greatest champions. - THE SNAEFELL MOUNTAIN COURSE FAITHFULLY REPRODUCED: 37.73 miles of roads and 264 bends for a race that is longer and more difficult than all GP circuits together. - 25 OFFICIAL RIDERS AND 38 ULTRA-POWERFUL MOTORBIKES hurtling along mountain roads at over 180 mph. - REALISTIC RIDING APPROVED BY ACTUAL TT RIDERS

I only play in first person view, keep that in mind.
This first part has a great balance between graphics and gameplay. The final result is totally satisfactory and you get hooked right away with its good calibration on the controller (I use the xbox one) and its refined and smooth use of the camera (I repeat, I use the first person view).
When I bought the second part of the franchise (IOM 2) I thought that it would inherit the best of the first by adding new circuits, but I was wrong, they just destroyed the good of the first part. To such an extent that after about three hours of trying to correct it by changing settings I gave it up as impossible and went back to the first part.
Literally, for me IOM 2 is completely unplayable in first person. Luckily this Isle of Man is a gem in that regard, you can feel the bike start to slide backwards in the corners and it's drivable with throttle control, a delight.
IOM has sublime moments in the visual in situations of crossing trees with the sun in front. If that light bothers you, you can change it, we have morning, noon and afternoon. It is not dynamic, it is chosen at the beginning.
You can completely disable all options in the HUD and see only the handlebars and dashboard of the bike. The experience still improves like this because you don't have anything to distract you and if you dedicate time to it, you don't even need it.
Oh! supports 32:9 resolution, which gives a total immersion.
Regarding performance, it runs completely smoothly, I have not found any problem in this regard.
Totally recommended IOM. If while waiting for IOM 3 to arrive soon, you want to test the franchise, choose this first part and forget the second (unless you play in third person), it is a safe bet.
EDIT: November 23th, 2023
Well, it's been months since IOM 3 was released. It had serious graphical problems then and the same problems continue now, the developers haven't bothered to fix them.
This first Isle of Man is still the best option.

I have been playing this game for years and only just starting to master it and get some good lap and race times on the scoreboard... what? they made sequels? is that why i cant get an online race? Oh well. You should get this, sink 150 or so hours into it, instead of the 3-4 hours the negative reviewers did, then you will see how good it is.

In Short... I was on the fence regarding buying this game for the last 5 years. I saw it on sale for $5, and finally bit the bullet. I already know this will be the best $5 I've ever spent on Steam. Make sure you get it on sale while you can!
Quick back story; I've been a Sim Racer for the last 20 years or so.
However, 2 years ago, I had to pack my sim rig away as I unfortunately no longer have space for it. So I haven't done much racing since then, as I don't enjoy racing games on a gamepad.
As of today, my feeling on gampads has now changed. (more on that soon)
I loaded up this game, did the short tutorial and then jumped straight into a not so "quick race" of 4 laps of 60kms each, around the Isle Of Man Snaefell Mountain Course.
I've never ridden a motorbike, or played a motorbike game before, however I felt right at home straight away.
I picked the first rider I saw which was Bruce Anstey on his Honda CBR600 in the Super Sport category, used the suggested Semi-Pro settings, and for the next 83mins & 28secs proceeded to have the gaming time of my life!
The experience was so immersive, the sense of speed incredible. This game was definitely designed to be ridden in first person view. I found the vibration feedback through my controller really added to the immersion aswell.
A few quick tips that I picked up on my 4 laps around the Isle Of Man;
- Be gentle on your throttle and braking inputs.
- Use the engine braking to slow you down before applying your brakes
- Brake in a straight line
- Trust the racing line, it was really helpful. Considering I'd never played this game, or seen this circuit before I only crashed 15 times over the 4 laps. (Which in my mind sounds pretty good! haha...)
- Use first person view. You'll have so much more connection with your bike and feel of the road.
- Avoid the gutters
Hope this helps...
In conclusion;
Yes, I've only played 80mins so far, but watch this space... I can assure you, there will be many more hours put into this game as the years go by.
I hope you enjoy it too!!

*A controller is highly recommended*
A very good game and a lot of fun. The bike physics take a little time to learn so you do need a bit of patience picking and setting up a bike that suits your play style.
You have several in-game options to choose from, type of bike and manufacturer (Honda, Kawasaki, etc.), riding positions and even set up your own leather colours. You also have a number of tracks to race on and the infamous TT course, you can choose from solo, multiplayer, tutorial and career modes.
Racing options include, mass start, time of day to race and number of laps. The tracks you race on are varied and some are very difficult with 90 degree turns.
Graphic and sound options are available to set the game up how you want it play.
The TT course is amazing, very quick and it will take time to learn because it's so big.

TT Isle of man: Ride on the Edge is a decent game:
When i first started the game i was really exited, i was like wow this is amazing!
Unfortunately after the first hour you'll notice a few things:
The AI, honestly what the F@#& is going on?
They act like you ain't there and will ram you.
It's not a matter of if and how but a matter of when will he ram me?
Even after a normal TT start and you overtake the AI, in a corner where you lift of he will ram you, it's like a open lobby in a F1 game.
Questionable physics, one time you hit a curb and launch into the air landing perfectly the other time you hit a normal bump in the track and you'll get launched to Shanghai. I often was sitting like g#&dammit what the hell did i do wrong?
These are my main complaints, especially the AI, it makes the game sometimes unplayable.
With that out of the way we can talk about the good.
If you play without the AI or overtake them far enough, you will have lots and lots of fun, a close representation of the Isle of Man TT roads, good amount of bikes and tracks. It gives a good sensation of speed often making my heart bump faster, this mixed with the screaming bikes makes me enjoy this game a fricking lot! I will give the game a 6/10 because the concept is good but the execution has a lot to desire (physics and AI wise).
