Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam.
Is this game a masterpiece? What you get is great, but it is still a simple arcade game without too much content. Story mode, survival mode, and as a bonus a simple local multiplayer brawler.
Squeaming like pigs they rush at you from all sides, while you stand in the middle and exorcise them with your mighty ray of light. That is the core game mechanic here, and it is fun. It is basically a twin-stick shooter without movement - you just stand like a rock and kill those nasties, saving their souls. Spells help you to defeat the ever increasing numbers and types of soul beasts attacking you, including some bosses. A few levels allow you to fly and move while killing the monsters.
Between the fights you can spend your earned souls to upgrade your lightbearer and his spells (or outfit), read/watch items of lore you have unlocked or talk with your mentor and other characters you have met. While the gameplay is similar to Savant: Ascent, the graphics remind me of a beautiful Disney animated movie. Gamepad works fine, I hope your RS is well oiled. I'd advise to play on the preselected "challenging" difficulty, lowering it to "normal" makes the game a bit too easy. The game is not in Early Access, yet it seems some stuff (like story phase 3 or rewards) is not yet implemented.

This game deserves more than the current 6 reviews and needs better promotion. Highly underrated =(
Beautiful Graphics! Nice Soundtrack!
It's a horde survivor game. The abilities all feel strong and the progression is well balanced so far. It's the NEXT GENERATION Asteroids =)
Check out my first 15 minutes gameplay video:
Yes! Recommended! 8/10 - Good job Sunnyside Games & Noodlecake!

Towaga: Among Shadows
DISCLAIMER: I received this product for no cost for the purpose of reviewing. However, this does not affect my views and opinions of the game.
Short Review
Towaga: Amoung the Shadows is a wonderfully stylised arcade shooter. It's best described as a twin-stick shooter where (most of the time) the player doesn't actually move around.
--------
Graphics: 9 / 10
The art and graphics are extremely well done. Not only are the animations and cut-scenes amazing, the actual in game graphics are colourful, vibrant, and look like something out of a well-made cartoon. The theme is this sort of fantasy tribe vibe, though the art really helps with nailing that theme.
The graphic artists and animation team could have easily created a television show instead of a game and it would have been successful.
--------
Sound: 7 / 10
The sounds are also quite good, the OST is another thing that is well done and also fits in very well with the theme of the game. The sound effects that come from using abilities and from enemies are also good.
--------
Mechanics: 7 / 10
Towaga is one of those games with very simple mechanics yet still manages to be engaging. For the majority of the game, the player stands in one spot and can not move, the only thing that does move is the beam of light that the player controls. This beam of light can damage and destroy enemies. If the enemies get to close, they can hurt the player, and their life meter drops. When the life meter is depleted the stage is not completed and the player must try again. On top of these mechanics, the player can also use one of 5 abilities as well as spend the game's currency on upgrades.
The player must complete stage after stage with new enemies appearing, each with different abilities, occasional boss fights, and increasing difficulty. At the end of each stage the player is awarded gems that they can spend on upgrades or new clothes (with abilities). New abilities are unlocked as the game progresses.
There is some replay-ability in collectables, and different modes. The game seems to be a decent length. What I can't get over are how impressive the visuals are. Even the action packed fighting trailer was amazing.

Thanks to the developer for giving me the opportunity to review the title, as well as anyone who took this review into consideration, I hope it helped.
