Tormentum II
Tormentum II, a long-awaited continuation of the dark adventure game inspired by the works of H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksinski, will appear on the Steam platform in 2019. In 2019, thanks to the Polish studio OhNoo, the door to the dark world of Tormentum will open again. Tormentum II is a Point & Click adventure game taking place in a dark, surreal world full of gloomy characters and repulsive creatures taken straight from the scariest horrors. The hand-drawn graphics, referring to the work of outstanding painters such as H.R.Giger or Zdzisław Beksiński, will take care of the one-of-a-kind impressions that spice up the players with shivers. This time the adventure will begin in the future – in a universe where computer games bring relief in a hopeless world devastated by technology. Players will lead the fate of a game creator whose ambition is to create what has never been achieved before – a world inhabited by characters with intelligence equal to that of a human being. When one day he receives a mysterious package with a strange processor, worrying visions begin to haunt him. Reality mixes with a nightmare, and characters from the game begin to penetrate his world. Or maybe it’s the other way round…

Amazing sequel!
I found it to be a big improvement over the 1st game.
Tormentum felt like an HOG without hidden objects, and it had a fairly simple plot.
Tormentum II feels more like a visual novel. It has a deep storyline that gives you food for thought, and a multichoice gameplay that leads to 5 possible endings with some variations depending on the choices we make through the game. Which adds a good replayability to the game if you are curious to discover every path.
The game is also bigger with a map featuring many locations to explore.
And the game art is absolutely fantastic and a feast for the eyes, with an amazing number of stunning drawn scenes to look at!
I found the puzzles fairly easy, and if you get stuck, it usually means you missed picking something up or overlooked a clue somewhere. Press Space to highlight hotspots in the current scene, to be sure not to miss anything.
You don't need to play the prequel first, as both storylines are completely independent of each other.
The game also offers one autosave and 8 manual save slots if you want to hunt for achievements without replaying the whole game.
I highly recommend it, if you would be interested in playing a VN with a deep plot, easy puzzles and stunning art.

Game's so good it cured my alcoholism (spent my last money on it, now I must consume rotten fruit and hope for fermentation)
I'm really glad this game actually released and highly enjoyed it! Firstly, I adore the artistic/thematic direction - combining an advanced sci-fi premise with biopunk aesthetic and baroque symbolism is a unique concept, and its execution is phenomenal. The art is intricate, stunning and offers a large variety of creative detailed sceneries, which feel even more impressive because of the ambient soundtrack. The atmosphere as a whole is very immersive and conveys the intended sentiments really well. My only silly complaint is that there is constantly a lot of smoke effect which washes out some sceneries by decreasing contrast, would've been nice if there was an option to disable it.
Additionally I like that there is notable focus on the writing; compared to the first game, the world-building and characters are a lot more fleshed out and it felt like a complex coherent story, rather than just solving puzzles and searching exit. Plus the branching is more varied and leads to several endings. Achievement hunting was a bit tedious but at least there are several save slots so it's not necessary to replay from the beginning every time. Most endings were rather confusing to me, but this series in general relies a lot more on experience than plot, so I didn't mind. Gameplay-wise this game made me feel smart lol, I didn't have to look up solutions at all, only difficulty for me was having to search where to proceed.
I'd absolutely love a third game but with this developing speed I might as well be a hag with dementia by then (◞‸◟)

(please do not look at the time on record - I played the beta version as a tester and translator)
First of all, I am extremely happy that the sequel is released. I was waiting for it since the announcement, and it was the oldest game in my wishlist. I wanted it so bad so never removed it, even after waiting for several years without any news. It is incredible that the tiny studio managed to bring this product to the final state after all those years.
Fantastic game. Even after multiple playthroughs I am still mesmerized by the visual and audio parts of Tormentum.
On a gameplay and story sides the game also greatly improves on it's predecessor. The game is much longer and have a lot of different locations, decisions that you make are not that obviously "good/bad" and endings are not just "you did good" or "you are a bad person going to hell".
Wishing the devs nothing but the best and will keep waiting for their new games.

Description
Tormentum II is a dark point-and-click adventure game. Though describing it as such feels like doing it a disservice. It is first and foremost a deep dive into art. Gothic, punk, grunge, metal, at times gross, at times glorious, always epic art. This game will show you so many incredible art pieces that you might feel like you are visiting a museum, but one with an interactive story attached.
It is obviously the sequel to Tormentum, which I recommended all the way back in pre-COVID 2017. Practically another aeon. And yet that game has stayed with me for near a decade, so much so that I bought the sequel as soon as I realized it had released.
Did it deliver? You bet. Tormentum II is a textbook example of a great sequel: don't ruin anything that was awesome in the previous opus, just expand on them.
Note: you do not need to play Tormentum before Tormentum II.
Pros
Incredible art! YMMV obviously, as with all things this daring and creative (and gorgeous... ahem)... If you've looked at the screenshots before reading this review then you know what I mean. But man, isn't that game a treat for sore eyes! A cornucopia of outstanding visuals
Excellent soundtrack
Intriguing story leaving a lot to interpretation
Truly interesting moral choices, like in the previous game
Extremely reactive dev team
Benevolent puzzle system which will let you get items before you have found clues indicating what they are for and will remove them from inventory once useless
Mostly straightforward puzzles (with some outliers that require out-of-the-box thinking)
Most-welcome ability to highlight interactable points (especially in a game like this one where the art is so seamless, it's often hard to tell what can be clicked on)
Cons
Slow pace overall, especially on later playthroughs trying to get different endings
Not particularly friendly to achievement hunters: some early choices determine which endings you can unlock, and the save system is miserly (a few slots, no renaming afaik)
Bleaker than bleak, discretion is advised
Slight camera movement following the mouse might be uncomfortable at times
Verdict
If you have played and liked Tormentum, go ahead, this is more of the same, just better.
If you have not played Tormentum, take a good look at this game's art and if it appeals to you in any way, try the demo.
Only if you have played the original and disliked it will I not recommend this gem to you.

Incredible, dark atmosphere and a tribute to the masters!
Tormentum 2 is a title with which I spent an absolutely fantastic time. From the very first minutes, the game pulls you in with its thick, unsettling atmosphere. However, the most impressive aspect here is the phenomenal visual setting. The hand-drawn, surreal art style is a true tribute to the works of Zdzisław Beksiński and H.R. Giger. The designs of many creatures and characters have this specific, biomechanical flair that immediately brings to mind the classic Alien. It simply looks brilliant and builds the game's world phenomenally.
Everything is perfectly complemented by a highly atmospheric soundtrack that constantly heightens the appropriate mood. As for the gameplay itself, the puzzles are of a high standard. They don't frustrate with an artificially inflated difficulty level, but they definitely require logical thinking and observation, providing a lot of satisfaction when solved.
A big plus is the fact that the second installment is noticeably longer and visually even better than its predecessor. However, if someone hasn't played the first part, I highly recommend starting there – it's still a great game that perfectly introduces you to this world. Finally, a small note for achievement hunters: completing the game at 100% will probably require a second playthrough, but in such a great atmosphere, it's pure pleasure! I definitely recommend it to anyone who appreciates a unique style and immersive, dark worlds.

Niesamowity, mroczny klimat i hołd dla mistrzów!
Tormentum 2 to produkcja, przy której spędziłem naprawdę rewelacyjny czas. Gra od pierwszych minut wciąga swoją gęstą, niepokojącą atmosferą. Największe wrażenie robi tu jednak zjawiskowa oprawa wizualna. Ręcznie tworzony, surrealistyczny styl graficzny to istny hołd dla twórczości Zdzisława Beksińskiego oraz H.R. Gigera.
Zdecydowanie polecam każdemu, kto ceni sobie unikalny styl i wciągające, mroczne światy.

We’ve been waiting for this, and the moment has finally arrived. The long-awaited sequel to that stunningly beautiful, dark adventure is out; it’s significantly expanded and offers more flexibility in certain areas. The game’s opening is a bit sluggish, which doesn't really help the atmosphere, but once things get going, it’s impossible to tear yourself away. The plot is much clearer than in the first game; while this allows for a deeper emotional connection, it also sacrifices some of that mystical ambiguity, that eerie sense of mystery that defined the original. The puzzles are excellent, none of them feel silly, they can all be solved through your own intuition, and they fit organically into the game's universe; it’s a real joy. The visuals and sound design are top-notch. Multiple endings, determined by subtle choices made throughout the game, offer great replayability. I really appreciated the game design: locations open up gradually, so you aren't left wandering aimlessly in the dark, you generally always know what your objective is. Overall, I’m very pleased, it’s a high-quality adventure crafted by just two people, and it was well worth the wait. Now, if only we could get a new game about the princess...
