I didn't buy this game for awhile because some of the negative reviews, but I have no clue what those people are complaining about. This game is exactly what I wanted it to be, a dungeon crawler like the other Torchlights. Well worth the money for the time you'll play it, especially on sale. Go buy it.

It is an improvement of Torchlight II via it's advanced skill/relic system, pet system, player fort customization, etc.
It is a degression of Torchlight II because of it's experience and levelling system. It is too lengthy. If levelling is going to be lengthy then it is missing a specific system of character upgrade that occurs between levels that makes the grind more palatable. The overlay map seems to be stuck right in the middle of screen. It does not show all markers and there's no option to change map opacity so I can't see my character clearly. The corner map is too small. I prefer the overlay map. The background music is lack lustre.
I will however disagree with many excessive critics of this game. It is a fine game not better than Torchlight 2 but it is still comparable in it's own way. It is not a bad game.
I would recommend this game. Try it out yourself without prejudice.

There's a guy who manages the game. He is a red racist. He has access to my device owner's name and general location so he assumed I am a Bengali and used a slang derogatory word to call me by naming a new pet loot as "Bongo". On top of that, he called me a "Dull Star" because I wouldn't play the game which I bought in the way he wanted me to. All of these interactions occurred without any direct chat.
To the owners of Torchlight III:
Please make sure misanthropic racist employees do not harass the customer while playing especially by naming conventions of ingame items.
I bought the game for Rs 288 when there was a sale. I think that makes me a customer, right?
Is this how your employees treat their customers? By harassing them inside the game?
If you are so unhappy with the 288 deal we made, kindly return me my money and I'll move-on to another game.
I'm not one for drama.

There is a "Jester" sticker awarded to me for this review. It is shown right beside the review. This person is responsible for my harassment inside the game. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an Artificial Intelligence playing the role of doubt-seeding. The sticker is a Jester and a special helm I got inside the game is "Knave". Same person responsible for these things.
Btw, if you don't know what "Knave" means, it is "a dishonest or unscrupulous man." used archaically.
If it's a human, he's spineless and likes to whisper doubts and accusations indirectly. A coward of fluid morality. He doesn't know the difference between seller and customer, let alone right or wrong or good and evil. All his accusations thrown at me via ingame assets is his projection of his own psyche.
He is a sick individual that needs professional help.
If it's an AI, this is what they're using and calling as "weaponization". It'll backfire and has already backfired before.
This guy is so brazen because he feels his work at Perfect World Entertainment, Beijing, immunizes him from any accountability.
I have 3 printscreen images that prove the files are altered.
An external hacker from another company won't modify the files in real-time. This was sent from perfect world's server.
If you ingrates have a problem with me specifically or the 288 deal, why even allow me to buy your game and install it? Hypocrisy.
Young fellow. It's alright.
Peace.

It will never be as iconic as TL II for me, but it's still a fun game. I've played it through a couple of times and I still don't know what the story is - that's how poorly the narrative is constructed. In contrast, the story of TL II still lives rent free in my brain. That said, the fun is still there. They've managed to create interesting classes and it still feels pretty darn amazing to hack and slash your way through. That is why I recommend it. It's an okay attempt at recreating mastery.

Worth it ONLY on heavy sale. If I bought this game at or even near the $40 price tag, I would be super grumpy. However, I picked it up at $8 -- a sale price point that happens often enough. And there's definitely $8 worth of fun here. But probably not much more.

Its my first time playing Torchlight but I'm a veteran of these types of games. Been playing on hard difficulty and having a good time. 15 hours in and it was definitely worth the $8 summer sale price. No bugs or glitches encountered. It does seem like most if not all the classes will have quite a few pets and companions. Found that kinda strange (only 1 pet but it can summon more companions,5 or 6 more). Then your relic ability has companions and there is gear that also summons more minions so I have quite a few, maybe 12 or more. All the complaints seem to come from those who had expectations built on playing TL1 and TL2. I'm thinking I'll have to check those titles out later. Your pet will go to town for you so not sure why people complain about inventory. Pet can sell junk and buy pots. There are quite a few active skills and that put me off at first but after reconfiguring the keybinds I'm unstoppable. I have legendary equipment (from lvl 4) that gives me access to every spell of the category so it feels like a glitch or cheat to cast lvl 20 skills. Pretty good drop rate for legendary equipment too with a strange feature that gives you permanent access to that items legendary trait even if you get rid of it. I like the game a lot. I would have paid more but at $8 I easily got my money's worth.

Torchlight 3 is an amazing game, and will keep you hooked for hours. Torchlight 3 is a 3D, Third Person, Top Down Perspective Dungeon Crawler Game. In the game there are 3 Campaigns, or what Torchlight 3 calls them, acts. Each act has it's own storyline/lore, while still being connected throughout the game. In this review I will tell new players, or people interested in Torchlight 3 about the game, but I will also compare Torchlight 3 with the previous game in the series, Torchlight 2.
For longtime fans of the other games in the Torchlight Franchise, Is Torchlight 3 better than Torchlight 1 and Torchlight 2? Well, It's very hard to say, and one of those reasons being I didn't play the first Torchlight as of writing this review. Torchlight 3 did so many things well, but the problems it does have makes it hard for me to decide if Torchlight 2 or 3 is better. They both aren't perfect, but both are very good games.
The First thing Torchlight 3 does better than Torchlight 2 is the graphics. The graphics in this game are just amazing. Torchlight 2's graphics were good, but not near this game's. I also feel like the game takes longer to complete the story, which is a good thing! I played 20 hours in one playthrough of Torchlight 3, whereas Torchlight 2 takes probably 10 hours to complete a playthrough. Another part of this game I liked was the Pets. In Torchlight 3 you get a new pet every boss fight, being able to choose whether you keep it, release it or swap. I love this aspect of the game, as pets have different abilities. Sure Torchlight 2 had the ability to transform pets, but I like Torchlight 3's version better. Yet another part of this game I liked was the difficulty of it. I played on Normal difficulty, and it actually still got pretty tough towards the end of the game.
Torchlight 3 has a new feature to the game called your Fort. Your fort is your base where you have your storage, training targets, crafting stations, displays and more. Displays can be either displaying your equipment or pets, which I find super cool. Torchlght 3 also introduces Crafting within your fort. I never used crafting much in my playthrough, but I like that it's there. Crafting is used to make things in your fort like displays and other stations. One station in the fort that I find cool is the dyeing station. You can dye/reskin your armor and weapons, giving your armor and weapons different colors, and being able to totally reskin your items.
This paragraph is me complaining about some issues in Torchlight 3, but the issues are fixable by the player pretty easily. If your new to Torchlight Or just thinking about getting the game, I would skip this paragraph. Although Torchlight 3 is an absolutely amazing game, it's not perfect. I've experienced a few glitches and parts of the game I dislike. First, going from level to level. When you complete a level, sometimes you need to go back to the main hub to get a new quest. Sometimes that new quest is in the same level, as there are normally multiple quests in the same level (which is something I like). What I really hate about this though is that you have to walk through the whole level again, which can happen multiple times within the same level. At first this isn't a big deal, but as you play and as the levels get bigger, it becomes a huge pain. What doesn't help with that is that the map also gets reset, so unless you memorized the level, you have to just wonder around until you find where you need to go. Of course, don't just skip everything if you haven't already gone through the level. That was a lot of writing about a single problem, but it was a pretty big problem for me. One more issue I had was actually a glitch. I don't think what I was just talking about was a glitch, but sometimes in some levels an invisible wall made me restart the level.
I know that was a decent amount of complaints, but those issues didn't stop me from absolutely loving this game, as they were easily fixable. In the end, I highly recommend Torchlight 3, you'll be playing for hours. I for one still have many hours to play as I'd like to 100% this game's achievements.

I have always loved Torchlight games and was really hoping (despite reviews) that this would be good.
Game play wise it is different, but very similar to Path of Exile, which I didn't mind.
However, for a game that I usually play with friends, it was really frustrating.
Very buggy and cannot share loot with friends.
I haven't played SOLO yet, so I don't know if its as bad, but it really killed some of the fun.... and the ending Sucked!
All in all, probably worth playing alone, but get it on sale. Hope the next one is better.
