Time Carnage VR is a virtual reality action shooter developed and published by Wales Interactive that embraces the pure thrill of arcade-style survival gameplay. Built around the concept of traveling through different eras of time, the game places players in dangerous environments overrun by a variety of hostile creatures ranging from flesh-hungry zombies to prehistoric dinosaurs, oversized insects, and futuristic machines. Rather than focusing on a complex story, the experience centers on constant action, encouraging players to rely on quick reflexes, strategic weapon usage, and endurance as increasingly aggressive enemy waves flood the battlefield.
One of the game's strongest features is its creative approach to combat. Players are equipped with an extensive arsenal that includes pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, explosive weapons, and more unconventional tools of destruction. The title introduces a distinctive weapon-swapping mechanic in place of traditional reloading, forcing players to continuously cycle through multiple firearms while under pressure. This system creates a frantic rhythm that feels particularly effective in virtual reality, where physically aiming, switching weapons, and reacting to threats from all directions contributes to a heightened sense of immersion. The result is a combat loop that remains engaging long after the initial novelty wears off.
The variety of locations and enemy types helps maintain momentum throughout the campaign and challenge modes. Each time period introduces different visual themes and combat situations, preventing encounters from feeling overly repetitive. A prehistoric landscape populated by charging dinosaurs delivers a different experience from a post-apocalyptic setting filled with hordes of undead or a futuristic battlefield swarming with robotic enemies. These shifting environments encourage players to adapt their tactics and make better use of the diverse arsenal available to them. The constant escalation of threats keeps the action intense and rewards players who can stay calm amid overwhelming chaos.
Visually, Time Carnage VR delivers colorful environments and detailed enemy designs that take advantage of the immersive nature of virtual reality. While the graphics are not intended to push hardware to its absolute limits, they are clean, readable, and effective in supporting the game's fast-paced action. Enemy animations are energetic, weapon effects are satisfying, and the varied settings successfully convey the sensation of traveling through different points in time. The sound design also contributes positively, with impactful gunfire and environmental audio helping to reinforce the feeling of being surrounded by danger.
The game's content is further enhanced through unlockable challenges, score chasing, and multiple gameplay modes designed to extend replay value. Players seeking competitive self-improvement can pursue higher scores, experiment with different weapon combinations, and attempt to survive increasingly difficult encounters. The straightforward structure makes it easy to revisit for short play sessions while still providing enough progression and variety to encourage repeated play. VR enthusiasts who enjoy arcade shooters will likely appreciate how accessible the game remains without sacrificing excitement.
Despite its strengths, Time Carnage VR may not appeal equally to every player. Those looking for a deep narrative, meaningful character development, or extensive exploration may find the experience somewhat limited. The gameplay formula remains focused on wave-based combat throughout its duration, and while the variety of enemies and locations helps, the core objective rarely changes. However, for players who simply want a polished and energetic shooting experience that showcases the strengths of virtual reality, these limitations are unlikely to diminish the overall enjoyment.
Time Carnage VR succeeds by understanding exactly what it wants to be. It delivers a fast, satisfying, and highly replayable VR shooter packed with creative weapon mechanics, varied enemies, and exciting time-travel-themed battlefields. The combination of accessible gameplay and intense action makes it a standout option within the wave-shooter genre. While it does not reinvent virtual reality gaming, it offers a consistently entertaining experience that captures the excitement of surviving impossible odds across multiple eras of history.

I can recommend it at a heavy discount, like the current 3$. It's a really nice wave shooter that looks and plays well and is really comfortable to play sitting down in a chair with arms. I played it as a 15-30 minute warmup in every VR session before turning to something more serious for 2 weeks or so and I enjoyed it, but I won't be returning to it.
All in all an enjoyable experience, a good way to waste at least 6 hours for 5$ or so.
