Not so great if you play it vanilla, but it is increadible with mods. So many mods. I recommend HIGGS, PLANCK, VRIKs, Spell Wheel VR, Sunhelm Survival, Auto Sneak And Jump, and their requirements as a good starting setup. These will give you a full body avatar instead of just floating hands and will add in physics collisions and interactability thats lacking in vanilla. Tired of those chickens ratting you out to the guards? Now you can just reach down, grab them with your hands, and throw them into the river! Even with mods, Archery is a bit jank and aiming spells can be a bit tricky. Also be sure to tweak your .ini files to get better visuals or it'll be blurry. LOD is low and dynamic resolution is on by default, so change the LOD settings and disable dynamic resolution (disable in steam vr settings, too). I get about 90fps on my quest 3 on desktop (rtx4090, ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64gb ddr5) using virtual desktop over wifi6 router.

Awesome game ! But as all Bethesda games, you'll need 1000+ mods to have a playable game and a pleasant experience. I highly recommend the MadGod overhaul modlist

Recommended only if you're willing to install mods. By itself it is very boring due to the severe lack of interactivity and underutilization of VR controls. But with mods like HIGGS, PLANCK, VRIK and Conduit, it's a lot of fun.

Couldnt get through the intro sequences without mods, 100 GB of Mods later I can kill dragons by throwing cabbages at them - 10/10
Don't skip out on this because you don't feel tech savvy and don't want to mod, it's extremely easy to get an amazing experience by just installing the FUS Modlist (

If you're going to commit to playing this in VR, you MUST mod the game to experience it at it's full potential. The vanilla version of Skyrim is rough but a good foundation for all the amazing modders out there to work their magic.
You will NOT enjoy this game if you play the Vanilla VR port. Hence the mixed reviews, if everyone took their time to download and install a good mod pack before reviewing, this game would be a 11/10.
If you have a lower end pc or just want to experience the game as Vanilla as possible with some great gameplay, quality of life improvements and minor graphics tweaks check out the FUS mod list by Kvitekvist and Cangar. It runs great and is very light which means easy to install, and fast to boot up.
If you have a high end PC and want to push it to it's limits, then the Mad God Overhaul by Moyse06 mod list is a must, it replaces almost every asset in the game with higher quality textures and meshes which makes it look unbelievably beautiful, like a modern AAA game.
The Skyrim VR Overhaul by valentueur is right in between the MGO and FUS mod list, this list boots up and runs surprisingly well. You can always configure these mod packs to your liking by following the read me and using your mod manager program. You will be using either Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex to manage these mods. Wabbajack is also needed to d/l and install most of these mod lists.

Do not play this game without mods. The vanilla experience is not great but with the FUS mod pack it becomes one of the best vr games to every exist maybe even the best. There are other great mod packs but I recommend FUS because it gives the vanilla experience with improved visuals and VR gameplay mechanics.
