Just got this for Christmas 2024 and playing it on my Quest 3. Game launched and played without issue which is honestly a better than I was expecting. Playing vanilla was disappointing because it isn't a true VR experience, more like you have a VR camera and you are playing normal Skyrim. I modded the game with an installer called "Wabbajack" that installed a huge modpack through Nexus Mods that turned it into a totally crazy awesome experience. Now I can grab anything, have really nice controls, better perk trees, and like 500 other mods. If you can't mod this, you might be disappointed or you might be satisfied. If you do end up modding it, especially with a Wabbajack modpack, your mind will be blown. I got the game for Christmas so paying 9 bucks for Nexus Premium to download the 500+ mods faster was super worth it, and now I think I might pull the trigger on Fallout 4 VR if there are similar modpacks while I still have the Nexus sub.

With the FUS modpack on Wabbajack, which is a literal one click install, this game goes from a mediocre VR port to one of the best VR games hands down.

The fact that Skyrim VR supports Skyrim Special Edition's mods effectively makes this the greatest game I ever played in my entire life.
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I modded the heck out of this game to a point where it's almost indistinguishable from vanilla Skyrim. I'm talking about 1000+ hours of new content to a point where I'm convinced now that I won't be able to complete this game in my lifetime (that’s no exaggeration) and that this game is LITERALLY a different experience every time I start it up because I’m constantly encountering new things and locations literally everywhere I go.
And the craziest thing of it all is that it’s virtual reality. Imagine all those crazy mods you’ve seen on YouTube and you are now experiencing it as if you were actually there.
The unique and bizarre adventures I’ve had are so out of control and fun, it has effectively canceled out and RUINED any and or ALL other VR games on the market for me. I’ve basically molded and fashioned Skyrim VR into everything I could ever want, it’s literally the perfect VR game for me.
Here are some of the the real adventures I experienced in my modded Skyrim VR world (I'm a horror and From Software fan BTW):
-I conquered DRACULA'S CASTLE with my companion the
Dancer of the Boreal Valley from Dark Souls 3 while wearing my BERSERK armor and using Cloud’s Buster Sword.
-I purchased a functioning pirate ship and actually sailed out into the vast ocean to fight Cthulhu and other sea monsters from the ship's deck, and then sailed to a new island to face new unique monsters, terrors, and quests.
-I fought undead werewolves, zombies, and other horror themed monsters while looking for Bloodborne bosses in the gothic horror themed woods with REALISTIC night darkness and a torch in one hand while the moon from Majora’s mask looks down at me (viking horror music replaced the vanilla OST).
-I traveled to HELL to fight demons in gothic castles and then later traversed tunnels underneath Skyrim with rifle guns fighting all sorts of underground horrors and abominations, and then went back to my steampunk mansion home to display all my new weapons and Dark Souls armors I acquired.
-I’ve traveled outside the borders of Skyrim to visit all sorts of new lands, creatures, and quests, all fully voiced acted and made with so much care and devotion that it feels like real life genuine DLC (I get to see morrowind again!?)
And that is all just scratching the surface, I assure you there is far more content than that in this game now, And not to mention that the base game quests themselves also have had new creatures and ideas expanded upon them, so even the normal story mode has more and more new things to experience.
Well there you have it, essentially the greatest VR game ever made (personal take) I hope that this persuaded some of you to go and get this and mod as much as possible (yes I understand the price can be a bit steep for a game as old as this but, I assure you, the mods and experience are completely worth it).
Also should be mentioned that modding this game is literally the EASIEST thing on the planet. I could do it almost blind folded, it’s just a simple program (Vortex) and a website of dedicated users and fans of Skyrim (shoutout to Nexus Mods!!!). Just keep in mind I believe the mod limit is 255 which may or may not sound low at first but, I’m at 202 mods and that is MORE than enough. I've added so much I don't no what else to add (but the community is still very active! I'm always surprised by the new mods and locations almost everyday!)
So go out there and please experience the craziest VR experience ever made! I'm so happy mods exist to this level!
UPDATE: I just implemented ChatGPT AI Voiced characters to EVERY NPC in the game now. I can have hour-long conversations with characters that they will remember and learn from as well as convince them to follow me as companions and tell me the lore of Tamriel on our Journeys.
Oh, and you can alter their text created memories and fill them with lore from Elden Ring to convince them they are Elden Ring characters (while they are dressed as them from the game since the armor is in my modded version) and basically have them talk to you about Elden Ring…
GREATEST. VR. VIDEO GAME. EVER. MADE.

thank god for mods -- do not even try without them. here are some tips i wish i knew before hitting play:
1.) after much digging on my own i found this guide to be a great base to build from
2.) the vortex launcher will direct you to skyrim legendary but that is normal.
3.) before adding mods check the version. if it say anywhere that it requires version 16 or higher, you cannot play it on VR.
my ancestors are smiling on me imperial, can you say the same?

The VR version of this is quite poor. ...... However modding it with the Mad God Overhaul it becomes one of the best things I have ever played or experienced. So with with I would be giving it 2/5 for standalone, 5/5 with MGO mod

skyrim vr is pretty fun on its own but if you want the best experience then you want to (obviously) mod it.
