The Beast Inside
The Beast Inside is a unique, gripping twist on thriller and survival horror. The game mixes intriguing story-driven adventure with unnerving survival horror experience. Immerse in the tale of long-buried secrets, personal tragedies, and madness. Play as two protagonists living in different centuries but bounded by dark heritage. Boston, 1979, Adam, the CIA cryptanalyst, leaves the city and moves to the countryside with his wife, Emma. His handlers are afraid they won’t be able to keep him safe there, but Adam believes he needs a peaceful place in the woodland, to take a shot at the military code. His work may alter the course of the Cold War. As it turns out, this area is quite the opposite of a peaceful place they have expected… In the attic Adam finds a mysterious diary written by a man called Nicolas Hyde, allegedly, a past resident of the same house who lived there in the 19th Century. Once opened, the diary carries the nightmares of the past right into Adam’s times, putting the lives of Adam and Emma in great danger. Density increases as these two stories come to an inevitable crash. Distant past and his eternal prisoner – Nicolas against Adam, cryptanalyst from the Cold War. What can it lead to? In tangled times, who will you trust?

The first half the game is truly terrifying when playing as Nicholas but this slows down towards the end. Has a great lore and story, and I absolutely loved that! Incredible horror game

What an amazing Horror game! Can't believe it's an indie when it could pass for an AA game! Can't think of a single bad thing to say about it. So much good!

8.5/10 for me!
The good:
I really enjoyed this game and I'm so glad I bought it on a whim while there was a sale. The beginning is spooky with a decent number of jump scares but as the story progresses I found myself becoming less spooked and more invested. I enjoyed the story, graphics, and trying to puzzle the story line together. I found myself looking forward to playing the game which is great for a horror game!
The not so good:
- Some of the mechanics were rough such as trying to break planks or rotate wheels.
- I didn't realize how puzzle heavy this game was which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I just wasn't expecting it and some of them are fairly difficult. If you're hoping to play a game without using your brain, this is not it.
- Due to the nature of the game changing scenes so much, it feels like you're constantly jumping around which can be great in terms of keeping players interested and changing it up, but at the same time, one second you're being chased, the next you have a gun, and then you're in an entirely different area.
- The game also makes it VERY clear which direction you should go in with white "paint" which I felt like made it too easy.
My biggest gripe—I want to know the different endings and you can't restart a chapter, you have to play the entire game through again once you finish which feels cheesy.
Regardless of the "not so good," I still enjoyed it and think it's worth buying on sale!
