The Beast Inside
The Beast Inside is a unique, gripping twist on thriller and survival horror. The game mixes intriguing story-driven adventure with unnerving survival horror experience. Immerse in the tale of long-buried secrets, personal tragedies, and madness. Play as two protagonists living in different centuries but bounded by dark heritage. Boston, 1979, Adam, the CIA cryptanalyst, leaves the city and moves to the countryside with his wife, Emma. His handlers are afraid they won’t be able to keep him safe there, but Adam believes he needs a peaceful place in the woodland, to take a shot at the military code. His work may alter the course of the Cold War. As it turns out, this area is quite the opposite of a peaceful place they have expected… In the attic Adam finds a mysterious diary written by a man called Nicolas Hyde, allegedly, a past resident of the same house who lived there in the 19th Century. Once opened, the diary carries the nightmares of the past right into Adam’s times, putting the lives of Adam and Emma in great danger. Density increases as these two stories come to an inevitable crash. Distant past and his eternal prisoner – Nicolas against Adam, cryptanalyst from the Cold War. What can it lead to? In tangled times, who will you trust?

So, I absolutely loved this game from start to finish. However, I rate games based on their faithfulness to the game page description... And this one said I could use my trusted revolver to shoot my way out from even the most lethal of scenarios... And there was only one chapter, out of 13, that called for me to carry a revolver. The rest of the game was run or die, and no revolver in sight. So, when a game doesn't live up to it's description I start docking stars.
But, that issue aside, the game is freaking wonderful! I personally thought the pace of some of the scarier chapters was a little too intense for me, but I pushed through and I'm glad I did. This game pushed and pulled me around mentally in so many ways, and threw a good amount of jump scares at me to where I forced myself to take a few days off after the intense chapters.
The graphics and music and voice acting are all superb. The length of the game as a whole was perfect. Any longer and I would have lost interest, and any shorter and I would have complained about the cost. Thankfully I had grabbed it on sale, so I feel it was money well spent.
There is a heavy focus on story telling and a little bit of puzzle solving. Nothing too difficult. It's the running portions that were the most stressful to me, and even then they weren't scenes that I had to replay so many times that I got frustrated. They were manageable.
This is not a first person shooter, though one chapter contains that element. This is a great, dark, intense story. If that sounds appealing then you won't regret adding this game to your library.

The fundamental elements of the horror game, such as the story, atmosphere, staging, and jump scares, were generally well done. And, with the alternation between the horror and puzzle chapters, there may be a sense of a shifting atmosphere. On the other hand, it could also create an impression of disrupted focus due to the interrupted pace of the game. Overall, it is a good game.

When you finish it you have to play the game over again to get the other endings. Other than that it's a fantastic game with interesting and challenging puzzles. Especially if you can get it for $3 like I did.

This a decent indie horror game that has an interesting story, creepy jumpscares and chases, non - buggy gameplay (despite the fact that you can get stuck in some areas, which is not terrible because the autosave feature is really good), cutscenes that look really indie and nice graphics that make the atmosphere of the game really solid.
If you can get this game on a 90% discount and if you enjoy horror games, you will have a great experience.
Overall I can give "The Beast Inside" a rating of 7/10.

The Beast Inside is a first-person horror game. The game puts you on the trail of an unsolved murder, yet it was made over a hundred years ago. Along the way, you will come across many mysteries, sometimes intriguing, sometimes scary.
We find a lot of influence for this game, starting with Penumbra / Amnesia for the interactions and puzzles, Alan Wake for the investigation phases in broad daylight and the horrific phases at night, and also Outlast or Alien Isolation for the detector.
After all these references, does the game have its own identity? Absolutely, the scenario is really good, quickly we expect something close to the movie Shutter Island, where everything is only in the head of the protagonist but in fact not completely, there is much more reality than we think. The technique is correct, the gameplay is really varied and very good, between phases of investigations, puzzles, day, night where we stress and freak out a lot thanks to the atmosphere, phases where we have to escape our pursuers, the sound design is very good. The game ends in about ten hours but if you want to see the different endings, count about twenty hours (because the game does not have a chapter selection which could tire more than one).

Overall a great game if you can get it on sale. I got it for $3 dollars. I would be happy to pay $8 or less for this game. The game has a decent story and interactions instead of just having the basic popup scares and chases. The puzzles can be a bit challenging but never less i was happy with this game!
