This game has the spirit of classic RTS games, but with enough little changes to make it its own beast.
For one thing there's a ton of units per 'troop' so you are usually commanding squads rather than individuals. A lot of people complain about the control scheme which is different to a typical Star Craft idea of circling and clicking a destination, but this game has a scheme closer to Total War where you command your team to move in formation and you can't just select random far off points. I find this makes the combat feel more personal as you can literally tell how far your units can attack and there are certain units who assume new forms to deal with new situations (troopers can kneel down and become snipers...etc). Clicking units will select all of a team but you CAN select and move all your units by holding shift and surrounding them with the mouse. I figured that out entirely on my own!
The graphics are really pretty for 2D sprites. This puts Star Craft to shame in terms of variety of doodads. I quite liked the sun-soaked post apocalyptic tale which waffled sometimes between poefaced bravado and dark humor. Music is great. Sound effects pretty decent.
This is not a game you can immediately parse if you think it's just Age of Empires with a Mad Max skin. It's a bit more like Dawn of War 2, complete with having command units who improve their squads.
It's perfectly priced, there's several story based campaigns, fully voiced, no bugs. Great find!

I dont get why this game is not in the best game charts. The story is good. Gameplay is good enough. 3 factions just like cnc 3.
