Honestly I much prefer Street Fighter V to 6. I like the artistic direction more and the variety of the roster is awesome. Fantastic game that still holds up well today.

More mechanically interesting that IV and simply better in every way than 6, V is the game I wish was still at the forefront of the FGC. It's a genuine shame that V didn't manage to evolve into what is actually the best modern fighting game around until it was almost dead with 6 cresting the horizon of its corpse.
Tangentially related: The drive system of 6 makes every character in the game feel and play essentially the same and the concept of "modern controls" has been a massive step backward for the fighting game industry as a whole. Besides that, I refuse to play 6 any more over issues of self-respect alone as I feel that the pricing of 6's DLC is so egregious and excessive that it's actually crossed over into being insulting.
Return to tradition. Return to V.
...or 3rd Strike / K.O.F. XIII.

I pressed one button.
The other player pressed all of them.
Street Fighter V is a fighting game where you think you know what you’re doing right up until someone deletes half your health bar in one combo. The skill gap is real and it does not care about your feelings.
The controls feel great, the characters are iconic, and every match is either a clean win or a very fast lesson. Online will humble you. Training mode will become your second home.
If you like learning mechanics, improving over time, and getting destroyed before you get better, this game is solid. If you want casual button-mashing victories, prepare for pain.
Back to training mode.

While this is not the current iteration of the franchise and thus not relevant for esports and competitive anymore, it is still a great fighting game in its complete form and you can get it on a sale for a low price, i paid 20 euros for the CE + Season pass 5 version. I don't care much about multiplayer so i can wait and get complete editions of older fighting games instead of paying through the nose for the more modern ones and all their DLCs. This runs like a dream at 4K on my AMD RX 6600 gpu. I do recommend this on a sale if you are interested in fighting games but mostly play single player. This does not have much in terms of story and single player content, but it has a large roster to try vs AI.

This game has probably the best characters design out of all Street Fighter games. Not Ken.
Has a decent amount of fighters, skins and stages.
The main menu music background is still the best.
Playable and fun in 2025.
