Splasher
The Splashers are in great danger! The quiet and peaceful workers from Inkorp are being led to their doom by paint factory's evil, greedy boss: Le Docteur. A young hero rises to fight for what's right. Armed with a splatter cannon, he launches an attack in order to save the Splashers and stand up to the dictator. His prodigious paint cannon grants him colorful superpowers which he can use to stick to the walls, bounce, or attack enemies. To help him succeed in his noble mission and put an end to the madness, put your skills and reflexes to the test and face whatever the factory throws your way. Splasher is a 2D platformer with unique arcade-style action gameplay. It offers gamers challenges that require agility, speed and fast reflexes, all set in a crazy cartoon universe.

Splasher is an absolute platforming gem, with varying levels of challenge tailtored to how you want to play it.
The gameplay is akin to the likes of super meat boy and celeste but with a bit more going on, in addition to traditional running and jumping, there are 3 sprays to control, water, red ink and yellow ink, these 3 are absolutely integral to the gameplay and the game slowly introduces these mechanics allow the player to get accustomed to them, alongside throwing in collectables for those who get the hang of the game early on, or want to go back and do once they've improved.
After the base game, the real game begins, the speedruns of individual levels are tight and really push you to find every optimisation you can, and full game speedruns to test your endurance and true understanding of the game, they have bronze, silver, gold and even elusive platinum medals to obtain, but good god they are brutal and only for the hardcorest of players, so be prepared.
The graphics are beautiful and incredibly stylish, enemies stick out, the inks are clear to see in advance, the game also has various different level types keeping the visuals fresh albiet some of them repeat, its still enough to visually keep things entertaining.
The sound department is great too, the music wasn't extremely good but still pleasant, very much fitting the vibe of each stage you're in (especially the windy levels those rock) and the sound effects hugely help the player and can give instant signal as they're supposed to, they also fit each entity as a lot of things in the game are mechanical so it all has a weird clanky and industry feel to it, which pulls the games theme together very nicely.
I do have some complaints however, with the bounce ink there appears to be some mild input delay and a deathless achievement is a big no no, spinkled in with some 144hz bugs too, the game seems to have weird oddities to it a lot of the time such as the water being inconsistent or controller being innaccurate and the actual angle needed to spray into a wall for bounce ink felt really sharp, so i had to switch to keyboard (which took considerable time to relearn).
Overall the game is incredible and while it has issues the issues are nowhere near enough to set the game back from being one of my favourite platformers i've played, its a game which knew what it wanted to be, and sets appropriate amounts of challenge as it goes, and considering it goes on sale often, absolutely pick this one up and play it for as long as your hearts content!

Moving in this game is just really fun. Just the right level of challenging to try to get all of the workers. Recommended!

Splasher is a very charming little indie platformer, which if you stick with has plenty of content to offer. It starts off a bit slow, but gets incredibly fun once you unlock the red and yellow inks. Bouncing around with the yellow ink as the screen zooms out is always really satisfying, even in speedruns.
On to the content of the game, base completion is quite simple and fun, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique platforming experience. It in a way reminds me of N++ with its momentum physics and mechanics which take some time to master.
If you are looking to continue playing beyond base completion, there are numerous speedruns and time attacks available which can keep you busy for a while. I personally found the time attacks a lot more fun than the speedruns, with all the platinum times being relatively straightforward with the exception of lvl 15 which had two ridiculously hard inputs. Regardless, they posed a fun challenge while preparing for the speedruns.
I'll preface this next section by saying I think the speedruns are way less fun than the time attacks, simply due to the fact that failing a run can cost you over an hour of time. It's never fun to lose that late in to a run, but it happened a few times for me which was frustrating. I personally think the hardest one was the Gotta Catch Em' All speedrun which took 3 attempts, then next hardest was Selfish which took 2, and then Standard which took 1. I would suggest you do Selfish right after you finish time attack platinums so the routing is still fresh. I next did Gotta Catch Em' All, which made doing standard last really easy, since you can skip every quarantine and the 1-2 nasty non-quarantine splashers. The times are pretty lenient in all of these I think, as long as you don't die too much. I had a few pretty bad deaths in the 100% speedrun, and still got the plat with 2 minutes to spare, so most of it comes down to routing, and making sure you collect all the golden sauce. Do not do what I did and miss 2 golden sauce on lvl 21 twice in a row ;-;
Finally, I did the deathless speedrun, which seems really scary at a glance, but compared to the speedruns is not very hard in my opinion. If you do it last, you will already have a very good understanding of every level, and you can take as much time as you need since you are not trying to beat a time. Furthermore, you can Q2M if you think you are going to die, which also makes this achievement a bit easier. Overall, if you are a moderately experienced platformer player looking to dip their toes into the world of YOLO's, I think this is a great place to start. It's pretty low stress and fun, and is a good introduction to notorious hard deathless runs.
All in all this review has gone on pretty long, but I wanted to address the really hard stuff in the game. TL:DR I don't think the stuff in this game is as scary if you have the right approach, and can be rather fun too. Just make sure you go into the speedruns and deathless with good practice, and I am sure you will enjoy the experience.

Splasher is the best platformer i have played in a long time.
It is a momentum based platformer that uses gels as its main mechanic. These gels make you stick to walls, bounce off them and also kill/manipulate enemies.
Splasher does so many things right, the most important one being its levels. Almost every level introduces new mechanics and uses them to their full potential.
Difficulty and its curve is perfect. Everyone including casual players could play it. For those who seek more of a challenge, It has collectibles, time trials and speedrun modes that ramp up the difficulty and its replayability.
Controls are super tight and intuitive on a controller. Each weapons corresponds to xbox button colors. People who wrote Super Meat Boy has better controls are straight up deluded by their nostalgia and love for that game. Its much better in Splasher and easier to play for casual players.
I recommend everyone to play Splasher. Its a must play for sure.
