Came for the aesthetics and gameplay, stayed for that sublime sound design.
While you shoot everything, you save friends. The more friends you save, the bigger the score. The bigger the score, the more weapon/shield drop you get. and so the endless cycle begins.
Every run is so satisfying. Definitively one of those "one more try" games. Just got it and already sunk 5 hours into it...! Can't stop/Won't stop.

WOW!!!!! Heart-pumping old-school arcade action!!!! It looks like such a dumb game and you think, "This looks stupid and has bad graphics," until you actually PLAY it!
This is an AMAZING game! I am thoroughly blown away! As someone who has over 80 schmups in my library, I am fully versed in the stressful and chaotic environment that shmups create, but this was unlike anything else I had experienced before! It's got all the frenetic action of a classic shooter, but it's twin-stick style and the way the enemies come at you (or try to snipe you from afar) is some of the most adrenaline-inducing shmup gameplay I've ever experienced!
I saw this game played on Shmup Slam and just had to pick it up. Still, I was a bit skeptical I would like it. Pick it up--there is a reason for the 97% positive reviews on here.

I just got this game recently and have been playing it a fair bit. I like the risk vs reward system with collecting the friends. They tend to be in risky locations but they also increase the score multiplier as well as increasing the drop rate of items, so collect them whenever possible. The online leaderboards add a lot of staying power. Overall, this is an absolutely chaotic, addicting and all around satisfying score attack twin stick shooter. Easy recommendation if it's on sale.

This game found me at a time when I was reminded that Robotron 2084 is one of the most satisfying arcade video games in our history. There's been some fine twin-stick shooters that have since followed, but this is the one that I believe could stand next to it. It's not a one-to-one experience if you're reading this as a die hard Robotron fan. Instead, it comes with the additions you would expect to see in a modern approach: multiple lives, powerups, randomized levels, etc. Nothing about that is meant as a knock, just to be clear.
Because there really isn't too much to be disappointed with! If you're not a fan of the moving camera you see in the trailer, for example, know that it can be made static and that it certainly enhances the Robotron vibes. And the vibes of this game are great, especially the sound effects from powerups, collecting friends, and level transitions. It's a very confident game that knows exactly what it wants to be. Highly recommended.

For such a cheap price, Satryn Deluxe has no business being this good! An excellent 8-directional twin-stick shooter with superb retro sound design! Do yourself a favor and get this one!

Great little Robotron style twin-stick shooter. Loved playing this originally on the Nintendo Switch. Runs great on Steam Deck as well. Easy recommendation if you're a fan of Geometry Wars, Robotron 2084, or Smash TV.

What you see is what you get. Yet it's so very replayable. I love score chasing and I find I'm getting better every round. I cracked 10M and got in the top 100 of the global leaderboard and I'm going for more! When you "get in the groove" you feel like you're part of the game and you can score so high.
I just bought it and I'm already 10 hour of play. I love great twin stick shooters and this one is top-shelf. It nails the aesthetic and it's a pulse-pounder.
edit: I played up to level 50+ and I give up now. I could chase the final few achievements and get to level 60, and kill X number of Y but I've had my fun. The game doesn't really expand, it just keeps repeating very similar configurations of enemies. Still worth every penny I paid and I think it's a snap purchase even at full price.
