Rock 3
Rock 3 is a procedural world generator to build believable and interesting earth-like worlds. By modeling tectonics and climate it drastically simplifies the process of building detailed and realistic biomes across continents and islands, while providing the controls you need to fine-tune and customize near-infinite possible planets. Save your worlds as equirectangular projections of biomes, elevation, heightmap, heat, water, and landmasses.
Rock 3 generates planets entirely on your GPU. It’s not recommended to run this on a laptop or other device with integrated graphics. Your experience may also be compromised on an old or low-end graphics card. In some cases scaling the resolution of the planet down can improve performance to usable levels. Maps are always saved at the highest resolution.

This is a quite useful and extremely interesting piece of software. I wish we had more control over the design of the world map, though. It would also be nice to have a display showing the time period of possible eras. Perhaps it would also make sense to be able to upload height maps that you have created yourself into the software and then modify them using the sliders. The function that allows you to drag and rotate the map to the desired position is useful and effective; however, I would like the program to save the map in the desired position instead of automatically re-centering it. I would also appreciate having more control over the sliders. Ultimately, this is the best software for generating believable world maps. I have never used a program that delivers such accurate results. I am absolutely thrilled. Thanks!

Great little app! Worth installing and playing around with. I think this will actually be perfect for a project I had in mind, thank you for the exports, I can't wait to hear of new features in the pipeline. It's pretty useful as-is for creating a little map world and having all the different elevation maps to match ready to go instantly.

This planetary simulator is just freaking *cool*! It simulates plate tectonics, meteor craters, differences created by planetary tilt, rainfall, and more. So you can generate dozens of physically consistent world maps in seconds. It allows you to export the maps of different properties (biome, rainfall, altitude, temperature, etc) as png files, so you can postprocess or use them in any way you like. I am so happy with the functionality.

My hours don't reflect how much I've used it. Great for worldbuilders. If it had more tools it could surpass Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator. As is still a banger.

This is great app for world making! With so little time and effort you can create a detailed and great-looking world map. The mountains and biomes are particularly good.
My only feature request would be the ability to save higher-resolution images. 2048px wide is quite limiting.

This is great for making heightmaps. I tweak everything how I want it,save it, then take the heightmap file into my paint program and resize to 512x512,adjust the brightness and contrast then paint pure black around the edges.
Load it into my world creator and it looks great. A lot easier than trying to paint a heightmap from scratch.
Thanks for providing this good tool.
