Set in America in the 1970's, the story centers around Dr. Stephen Dowell, a renowned psychologist faced with a difficult patient who shows distinct yet contradictory symptoms of different mental disorders. The life of the doctor himself is also shrouded in mystery – you must step into his shoes to find out the truth. What terrible fate has befallen your wife and child? Is your new patient, on whom you are testing your experimental treatment methods, somewhat responsible for what happened? Who is to blame? Don’t lose your nerve and overcome your fear.

It feels familiar and predictable rather than fresh, but it still offers a polished horror experience.

Rise of Insanity tells a story about someone with mental health issues using some very interesting and diverse scenery.
While the story is quite cliche (as with most games in this genre), I think it had enough details and background to it to make it decent and interesting.
Graphics are very good. Sometimes realistic, sometimes twisted and distorted. Jump scares are rare and effective. The game relies more on exploration of the story and interesting visuals, less on raw graphical horror. At some point later in the game, it even gave me some Layers of Fear 1 vibes in how hallways changed and twisted - which is a good thing.
On my high-end system, the game ran absolutely flawless in 1920x1080 but was an unbearable mess at 4k with huge frame drops and very erratic mouse movements. Not sure why. It should be able to handle this with ease.
Don't know what to think about the English language used here either. A lot of sentences were off, both in text as in speech. Just not the right grammer, not the right spelling and awkward ways to say something. But the voice actors had perfect English pronunciations while making the exact same errors. Was this on purpose? Part of the character's insanity?
Anyways. I think this is a very decent game. It's not really scary, also very light on the puzzles and mostly a walking sim. But the whole package was definitely worth it in my opinion.

Nice little game, easy to play in one sitting (around 90 mins). It’s a clear love letter to layers of fear but it isn’t as intense or as well built. The scares are very predictable and I guessed where the story was going within the first half of the game. Saying that I really enjoyed the game but it is a little expensive for what it is. It’s definitely worth picking up on sale or as part of a bundle.

Rise of Insanity gave me strong Shutter Island vibes (the Leonardo DiCaprio movie), especially in how the story slowly messes with your head. It’s a psychological horror game that focuses more on atmosphere, story, and perspective.
It’s more about unease, confusion, and piecing things together as you move forward. The environments and narrative do a good job of keeping you curious about what’s actually going on.
Gameplay is short, roughly 2 hours, worth a try.

nice game!
pretty short even if you try to unlock every achievement (would say around 2 hours, took me little less than that). i like the graphics, it looks good and has really good lightning. good little details. only downside to me is that the story is overall predictable, therefore it makes the tension in the plot less interesting.
would still give it a solid 7/10 i think, it's a nice experience into someone's troubled mind and the scary job was well done. not everything has to be deeply unpredictable to be enjoyable

I went in with no expectations and was surprised by how great this storytelling horror game is. At its core, it’s a tragic story inspired by real-life experiences. The jump scares were solid, and the atmosphere kept me fully immersed. There were only a couple of moments where I got stuck, not because of the game, but because I missed an item twice. Should’ve paid closer attention!

Decent game, not long enough, really. Much more story that could have been explored. Pacing was good and kept interest peaked. Would love to see more like this.
