I tried it with a few people, but it's only somewhat entertaining and funny. The "Write a Riff" mode uses text-to-speech which has relatively flat tone. Some clips and choices on "Pick a Riff" are probably much more funny if you're familiar with Western culture in specific decades.
It's not my cup of tea, but there's no strong reason not to recommend it either, when it's also rather cheap.

Fun, funny, & simple.
What you see is what you get.
Pick from a sampling of soundbites, or write your own riff to be read (poorly) by text-to-speech!
Caveat Emptor -- all you can do with the base client is spectate other lobbies/matches.
If you want to host your own session or interact (aka: play) it requires a 3rd party site.

The Gist: You watch movie clips of dubious quality and write or pick a riff of suitable comedic value.
The Good
- The array of movie clips is astonishing.
- There's lots of options to customize your game room to your liking.
- There's even sound effects to enhance your riffs.
- If one player earns an achievement, you'll earn it too! Though that's probably a glitch.
The Bad
- Nothing, really. The game does what it set out to do pretty much perfectly, if nothing more.
Pro Tip: To actually write or pick riffs for clips, you need to use a separate browser window to open rifftrax.games , where you'll type in your room number and nickname, then you're set!

I recommend it not only for its great fun as an online party game, but also for its unlimited potential for modding, meaning you can easily replace the video clips with your own very easily, and have people riff on your own handpicked custom clips!* The developers of this game even ENCOURAGE this sort of modding, and include a helpful tutorial for how to include your own clips in the game's file directory! HUGE RECOMMEND for anyone wanting to get together with online friends during a stream or video call and just goof around making fun of movies and shows, and a HUGE RECOMMEND for the game modding community! The modding community has potential to grow about as big as Rivals of Aether's.
*Although with a little caveat: subtitling software is required to make SRT subtitle files to even include riff space easily, marked and timed with a "", otherwise it won't work. Thankfully that isn't too big of an issue, since Aegisub is free and easy to use for this purpose.

Very fun way to spend a half hour during a game night! Similar to Jackbox but way simpler and doesn't throw super low level bit comedy at you every 15 seconds. The movie clips it plays are very random and funny ones to fill in the blank. Highly recommended.

real fun with friends or even with random people (ive play online a few times before the great migration)

Great little party game, and with the customisation options (they do require a bit of tech know-how) probably the best of the riffing style games from the MST3K crew. It's a go-to game when we don't have quite enough for Jackbox, since Rifftrax is fun with only 4 players and the Riffbot. You do need the kind of people who can riff since the riff-for-me options are hit-and-miss, and pick-a-riff kinda blows.
