So I've played this game on other platforms, and here's what I see about the negative reviews:
1. People complaining about a super hard difficulty spike near the end rush through the story without exploring and upgrading corebots and equipment/abilities.
2. The battle system is multifaceted. The idea is that you use this to your advantage. Relying solely on your weapon is not the wisest course of action.
Granted the last level is a lot of platforming, but by no means as hard as people say it is if you take your time to explore the world and find things/power-up your character as much as you can before you get to this point. The world is not empty. I like this game. Good music. Cute main character. Good story (I mean, it's not, say, Dostoyevsky unless we're comparing it to Hollywood Marvel/DC incarnations - yeah I said it).

TL:DR I would rate the game 8/10, the actual current rating it has on Steam is baffling to me. Please watch a Youtube review or metacritics before deciding to buy as it might be that people who don't enjoy action-adventure/platformers bought this game by mistake.
I really don't know why this game has so bad reviews...
It definitely isn't for everyone, but somehow I feel like it attracts wrong type of audience. The game is very well designed action-adventure/platformer. When outside of dungeons the levels are designed in the openworld manner. Aesthetics are really appealing and the art direction feels really nice.
Every single object in game has collision that is almost perfect. I don't remember when was the last time that a game didn't block me with invisible walls, but this is one of them. The illusion of open world in this game is so well done to the point that it reminds me how actual open world has become burden to the modern games and instead adopts more a Metroidvania style of world design.
As for the story it definitely leaves something to be desired... but not in a bad way. Almost everything is very cliche but it serves as a glue for the crisp mechanics. Story isn't bad or good, it is functional for the purpose of the game delivering fun gameplay and level design without too much story depth, but just enough that it feels immersive.
I would rate this game with 8/10, there are some stuff that feel repetitive but that never lasted for a long time... unless you count shooting in action game and platforming in platforming game.

I think a lot of the negative reviews are from the past poor optimization and bugs that have largely been fixed (aside from keybinds). This game still has a lot of flaws and lacks some polish, but its so rare to find a game that actually takes a risk and tries something new at the risk of being controversial.
This is a mix of a 3d platformer, collect-a-thon, bullet hell third person shooter, and open world RPG. The story is a bit predictable, but very charming in its execution which is reminiscent of pixar. 6.5/10 Buy on sale (4USD).

Seems like a solid action adventure console style game. Feels a bit retro with the collectathon mechanics... the maps are full of stuff to collect if you actively search for them and you can upgrade your robot dog and other bots you can collect from what I can tell so far.
Worth checking out on sale. I'll add more when I get to playing it more. Maybe :)

Recore is game I picked up only recently and had a blast playing it. Funny thing is there is tons of crazy platforming in this game, which I am bad at but they implemented it in a way that does not cause endless frustration as there are checkpoints on the way.
There are many dungeons, some are all platforming, some are arena and some are in between,. In all, you need to find a yellow key and 8 other keys that you shoot to collect aaand you need to to that in a fixed time assigned to dungeon. If you get all 3 objectives complete you get the special loot chest for each objective and an additonal one, as well as one for completing the dungeon.
Finding dungeons is not too difficult, you roam around and get an alert when you get in the proximity of it. Sometimes to unlock it, you need to find keys shown on the map but may be anywhere, up in a rock, in a rock or buried in a sand. It's fun.
You quickly unlock red, yellow and blue upgrades for your rifle and use the matching color for enemies. In DLC you unlock further upgrades that allows you multi-shot, pierce shields and a weird but powerful lob mine shot.
Your main goal is to collect prismatic cores throughout the game. You do the dungeons and find the hidden prismatic cores when roaming. Platforming and shooting robots to kill or extract cores are the main activities, which allows you to progress and develop your companion robots's damage output and abilities.
Some aspects of the game reminded me two other games I liked, Returnal and Horizon Zero Dawn. Open world, shooting, platforming, puzzles, dungeons, robots both as companion and enemies, color-coded fighting, you name it. A lot of goodies, very few bugs.

An enjoyable PS2 game that got stuck in a time-flux and ended up being released about 12 years later than it should have.
For what it's worth it's a fun, sort of mindless, nothing-special third person shooter / platformer. Weirdly most of it's good ideas don't show up until after the main story is done, and I'm sure most people didn't stick with it that long.
Grab it on sale and don't expect too much, it's a decent time-killer.
