Radio Commander is a strategy game based on one crucial idea – the player uses only a radio to command his troops on the battlefield. In Radio Commander, the player is not an invisible being hovering over the battlefield, but rather a real military commander that carries a heavy burden of coordinating military operations. It’s a bold try to redefine the genre, as player will be involved in a decision making process much more realistic than those pictured by casual RTS. The game is set during the Vietnam War and focused on a narrative driven experience. The main game scenario doesn’t avoid difficult issues of civilians trapped in the theater of action, shady CIA operations, and cynical political pressures.

One of my favorite games from this dev team, its absolutely insane how good they make these games. I've always loved the operator styled games they've made, even ones that aren't focused on it like Infection Free zone. 911 operator, 112 operator, Radio commander, and Infection free zone are all games I've played at some point that they made, and I don't have any complains for any of them ever.

First playthrough review time.
I got this game for free, and it has an interesting concept for an RTS, but it doesn’t completely play like one yet. The campaign is very scripted and gives little room for players to make their own choices or change tactics. It mostly follows a fixed path made by the developers. While that can work for a story-driven game, it limits variety and makes each mission feel mostly the same. I haven’t tried the workshop content yet, so that part might offer more options.
The biggest problem I’ve noticed is the amount of issues in the campaign missions. Some maps fail to trigger important events, which forces a full restart even after spending a long time progressing. There are also times when invisible enemies or broken combat triggers stop units from moving or finishing objectives. Since the game relies a lot on interpreting limited information, these issues make it difficult to tell what is actually happening, breaking the overall flow.
In conclusion, the idea behind the game is good, but the current version struggles with too many technical and design issues. The scripting limits strategy, and the bugs make missions unreliable. With more fixes and improvements, it could become a much stronger and more stable strategy experience.

the game is a lot of fun but the dlc squad commander makes it more complicated so i recomend just getting the base game

ok, so this is a 20 min review but lets be honest, we watch vids of it before lol so we know what were getting into.
so, as a rts alone its meh. but honestly if it were more complicated it would be a wayy steep learning curve. but i will say it is rather linear, but theres some wiggle room i see. cant speak for the campaign, im a quick/custom battle kinda guy. i would say get it on sale if u can, i paid 5 bucks and im satisfied w it. u can move ur men kinda anywhere u want but whether it will complete the task is another question
juggling arty, airstrikes, helos, and medivacs is its strongest point

+ The fog of war and replay mechanics are really fun
+ Coming from the game squad, I loved the concept
- Why does every unit report every little scratch, why do I have to tell them everything? I know this is probably easier to program but I feel like I'm the only one doing the thinking here.
- I'm not sure why in the 2nd mission, after rescuing all the wounded soldiers, the next objective is to "rendez-vous" with no further detail, but when I do collect both units at the LZ and fly them out on helicopter, the mission just goes on. Shouldn't it be something like "stand by and survive the night"?

Yes is fun but the fun came in when the characters are speaking developing the story line and is just funny the way they talked to each other

While the controls are dull and the UX and UI is upgradeable, it's a good game.
