Poppy’s Nightmare
Poppy’s Nightmare is a 2D side-scroller shoot’em up where a little girl fights her nightmares!
In Poppy, there is a progressive evolution of the things you can do throughout the game. You will travel marvelous worlds full of charming creatures who scare you that you are to fight. There are many of them! Spiders, dogs, dogs with planes, more spiders… but you, a girl who’s fighting her nightmares, have a much stronger desire to overcome. There are also a final challenge throughout the levels and scenarios that will set ready your skills, using all of your abilities, upgrades, and skills in order to advance and collect as many points as possible, which are features in the best form possible: Candy!

The game was developed by 2nd Year students at DigiPen Institute of Technology Europe – Bilbao, in an 8-month project as part of their academic curriculum. The game was made without the usage of a premade engine in C++.

Игра 'Poppy's Nightmare' – это короткий, но напряженный хоррор-опыт, умело использующий атмосферу и знакомые элементы из Poppy Playtime, чтобы создать пугающий кошмар. Визуальный стиль, хотя и намеренно пиксельный, эффективно передает тревожную обстановку и чувство надвигающейся опасности.
Геймплей сосредоточен на решении простых головоломок и избегании жутких преследователей, в основном – Poppy и ее "друзей". Скримеры присутствуют в достатке, однако игра полагается больше на психологический хоррор и ощущение полной беззащитности. Зачастую достаточно просто почувствовать, что тебя преследуют, чтобы передернуться от страха.
Несмотря на некоторую вторичность и простоту механик, 'Poppy's Nightmare' удается создать запоминающийся кошмар. Короткая продолжительность игры является скорее плюсом, чем минусом, так как она не дает хоррору надоесть и держать игрока в постоянном напряжении до самого конца. Игра особенно рекомендуется фанатам Poppy Playtime и всем, кто ищет быстрый и пугающий хоррор.
