Noise
The USSR era is coming to its end – it is 1988.
The radio amateur catches a strange signal that emits incomprehensible noises. It is broadcast around the clock and only sometimes a human voice makes its way through the air. However, it is impossible to make out what the person is saying. The most mysterious thing, though, is related to the fact that according to the maps the place the signal is coming from does not exist. As a main character, you will have to uncover terrifying secrets about this enigmatic signal.
There is no weapon in the game. The protagonist does not know how to handle it.
The most useful thing you have is a radio.
With its help you can understand what is happening in this place. You choose the radio wave on your own in order to catch the desired signal, contact people, or simply listen to the radio of the USSR. There are a lot of moments in the game related to the use of the radio.
The story in Noise is not a typical faceless horror.
We’d like to tell you an interesting yet sinister story in Stephen King’s manner. The story will be rendered through conversations and thoughts of the protagonist as well as through the study of locations. Some details of the story can remain unnoticed if you don’t study the locations carefully. The story is set in the USSR which gives it a peculiar flair.
The main antagonist of the story is the creature which is constantly wandering around, exploring the location the same way you do. It hunts you and reacts to your actions. If you turn on the light or use a flashlight, the creature will go and check what is happening. You need to try hard to hide from it because you cannot kill it. The creature sees nothing in the dark, so sometimes it will be enough to simply turn off the light and wait for a while.
The creature emits radio waves, so you can track it with your radio. We tried to implement the artificial intelligence system in the game, being inspired by the monster from the Alien film and game.
The creature is important to the story. It is no less important than the protagonist.

Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Xbox One Controller. Spoiler Free Review.
I'm giving a neutral recommendation. I paid $1.79 USD for this game back on the Steam Autumn Sale 2017 and now the game is all the way down to .49 cents! The game is easily worth that amount. But just because it's cheap doesn't mean it gets an auto positive recommendation.
In this case, there's things to like and things not to like, almost evenly. The good is that this game is of decent length. It has some okay puzzles. And there's a story. And there's a save system and it seems to run without crashing or problems starting. There's some nice philosophical questions in the dialogue. Oh, and you get to listen to Russian music on the radio ... yay!
There's almost equally as many things to dislike. First and foremost, the pacing is slow and the puzzles obtuse. I was surprised that I got past the first chapter by doing something rather pedestrian pun intended . The graphics are totally ugly. And there's this ever present jitterniness that may give some people nausea, luckily for me, I have a VR iron stomach constitution. The voice acting is not the best and especially the woman at the start is almost incomprehensible.
Even though I got to the 3rd chapter, I'm not sure I want to continue with the story. Ironically, the 3rd chapter is finally where everything the game has been building up to finally occurs. Except, it's not that interesting as far as gameplay. I don't think the audio is spatial & I found it didn't really work in any event the alien creature saw me even though I was in the dark and still
The game is only .49 cents. Honestly, I have low expectations at this price point. So if you're looking for a cheap non scary horror game with obtuse light puzzles and a slow build-up with perhaps no reward for your patience, then this game is perfect. I mean, you can barely buy anything for .49 cents these days and at least this is a full game with a plot and all that jazz.
Rate 5/10. There is no jazz, only 'ol Russian commie music on the radio.

The first chapter was kinda boring but things start getting interesting halfway through the game. Btw, the monster in chapter 2 killed me a few times even though I was in the dark and wasnt making any noises

The game is fun to play. It hits that point where it's not so easy that it becomes boring, but also not frustratingly difficult. Once you figure out exactly what you need to do, you can easily complete your tasks without getting killed a lot.
I also have a quick playthrough if anyone's interested.

A lot of you might not find this game to be fitting in the horror genre, but there are some good parts about this game that are overlooked. First and foremost, the first chapter is going to be like an introduction into the game mechanics. There are breaches in space time continuum which allow you to experience the past or future through radio transmission. Stories of the past can be heard as people evacuate the base. The USSR was deeply rooted in secrecy during the war while advancing technology using radio waves to create breaches. A monster can be found in chapter two, where real danger becomes imminent. Overall the game is a walking simulator with dialogue created to progress the story's core elements which is noise. Noise can be helpful or dangerous depending on the situation. Some of the puzzles were either too easy or vague in how you needed to solve them. Rate 5/10 meaning neutral based on length, difficulty and overall story.

Noise is a great indie horror game! I recommend to anyone who wants to play a little game and enjoy an interesting story that really delves you in! The voice acting is pretty on point. It took me a little bit for me to figure out what to do but not at the point where my friend and I got fustrated. As long as you walk around and look through everything you'll totally be fine. Also, this game is Early Access and it runs really smooth. I only had four things that I encountered that can be fixed and or changed. Here's the video I've done if you like to see what it's like.

It's fun, however it's extremely difficult to find out what to do, for me at least. The game's not long, completing about half of the game takes just above 1 hour. It has an interesting story and is one of the better horror story games. I'd give it a solid 8/10 for gameplay, however only 5 for the difficulty. With no proper tutorial it is harder than you think to play it.

I like atmosphere of this game. It reminds me of STALKER. Very interesting story...

Developers should improve UI and settings menu, it looks kind of cheap :) Very aggresive lods on trees, some textures too blury.
I think in overall game is really worth its money)
