Edit
Continue the epic saga through a new cinematic story that is more than 25 years in the making. Players will take on the role of a variety of past and present characters in a time-bending new narrative that pits Raiden against Kronika, the Keeper of Time who created existence at the dawn of history.

So, eventually the game was released for Nintendo Switch, so I decided to give it a try. It is actually pretty solid in many ways - story line is an action movie itself, but besides that you can find yourself quite entertained collecting visuals for the characters while exploring krypt.
Also the tutorial is pretty good, I never knew how to play this fighting game like a pro, but after practicing this tutorial you can actually compete online and enjoy playing against stronger opponents, even if you loose.
Devs also brought some afk gameplay into the game, so you can choose your characters behavior, abilities and appearance and just watch AI battles, while still getting resources and rewards.
As for the Switch version specifically, of course the graphics are lowered, but the FPS are quite stable and fine. I personally enjoy the possibility to play AAA games with a pocket device here and there.

Mortal Kombat community. I know you won't read the reviews and never will but I have an important message to spread around for the community and the dev team as well.
Merry Christmas. <3

In my opinion this is the best modern Mortal Kombat game. Decent roster of characters and tons of ways for customizing each and every one of them, both mechanically and visually.
Having played +100hs I feel like I barely scratched the surface, and I haven't even touched story mode yet.
If you are looking for a fighting game with loads of content (single player wise), this is for you. The way you make progress in the krypt through playing towers with randomizers is engaging and keeps you coming back for more. On top of all the mentioned above, is the special-move customization feature, which gives you a lot of room to play with different combinations and find what suits your playstyle best. If that isn't of your interest, you can directly select any of the 2 base builds that are premade for each character (those are the ones allowed if you play competitive online).
I personally prefer this 1v1 type of combat (with occasional and OPTIONAL tag assists) instead of the approach that MK1 makes with constant 2nd character assists that are a core part of its combat mechanics that you can't turn off.
I also like the pace of the combat, which is a little bit slower than MKX.
If I had to go back to a previous MK that I enjoyed as much as this one, it would have to be 9, but given that it's not been available on PC on any store lately, and it being a PS3/360 era game (some people consider that era retro already), I would go for this MK11 instead of X or 1.
I recommend getting the most complete version of the game with all its DLC's on sale.
Have fun!

It's somewhere between good and bad. On one hand it looks nice and is the same fluid fighting game I've loved since childhood. On the other hand the story mode kinda sucks and there's not much to do beyond unlocking achievements and tower battles.
The character selection is pretty weak without the DLC content but it all goes on sale dirt cheap pretty regularly so I suppose if you pick it up on sale then it's worth it.

My favorite Mortal Kombat game out of their latest. I haven't played MK 1. But that's because it contains a DRM. While this one doesn't. I completed this game on another platform and I'm back at it on Steam.
I enjoy the character customizations, augmentations and leveling system mechanic. The krypt is better than previous games as it allows you to freely roam around in third person. The Ultimate version is the way to go if you're going to grab it. Various game modes for replayability and unlocks to keep you coming back for more. A great game if you're into fighters. "Round One, FIGHT!"

Everything else is pretty good, except it takes up a lot of space (up to 120GB)
