Mixing elements from roguelites and turn-based tactical RPGs, Moonfall is a short game about travelling through dangerous wastelands. Manage your squad, recruit new travellers and craft items to reach the Valley where the broken fragments of the Moon once fell.
Features:
- 6 different classes of travellers with unique abilities. Assemble the most versatile team to survive the dangers of the wastelands.
- Reorganize your team each turn and make the best use of the various terrain types. Avoid hazards and gather resources to craft makeshift equipment at your Night Camp.
- Procedural map and level generation: each run will offer a new set of situations and challenges.
- Origin cities, crafting recipes and codex pages to uncover and collect for the next runs.
Moonfall is designed to take 2h-5h to complete depending on your experience with the same kind of games.
I hope you will enjoy the game 🙂

With a story reminiscent of a post-apocalyptic Banner Saga, Moonfall's deceptively simple mechanics make for a fun, evolving challenge. Unfortunately, my kids have hijacked this game from me. They love it, and they don't give me a turn. Their reviews are below:
Thing 1 - I like how you can craft stuff to help you on the rough terrains.
Thing 2- I like the challenge but if you do like 20 levels and your whole party dies you have to start all over.

Moonfall is a really great indie game, with a simple yet very interesting mechanic. Each turn you can move only one of your companion. To win you will have to optimize their placement and anticipate every action. There are 6 different character types, allowing for variation in play style. During the night you are able to craft items, scoot the surroundings and heal yourself. The game might be tricky near the end but is never frustrating.
My only complaint concern the achievements which doesn't seem to count toward the "Avg. Game Completion Rate". But that shouldn't discourage you to buy the game, especially at that cost.

A magnificent roguelite turn based adventure. Well done atmosphere to make your mind travel to this inhospid territory, interesting team management during travelling to the Valley that will need to keep all your sense to the max.
More about this in my video:
I did receive the game to review it for GDWC, but i did not get any endorsement or money for it. This is my personal review.

Moonfall is a turn based exploration game. The exploration mechanics are very interesting. It is almost like a cross between a puzzle and combat. You have to position your people in the right way to avoid getting hit by tornadoes, blizzards and wind.
Gameplay for those curious:

Delightful to play, beautiful, simple although high-stakes gameplay. A laid back puzzler with easy to learn mechanics, very intuitive so far. Will update as It probably gets harder later :)

"It kinda reminds me a book or two (« Wuthering Heights » and another one (french))...where your team is not fighting against foes and such but simply, mother earth elements..."
You have 4 teamates at the start of your adventure (given randomly at the very beginning... then after unlocking some specific areas you could start with a team you exactly know and choose)...
A list of them
Shield (block fire)
Acrobat (they could jump 2 square instead of 1, very useful, especially at the end of the game)
Scout (they search stuffs when you are at the camp (when you built the scout bench))
Medic (heal your companions if you move them just next to another one (not diagonaly, only horizontaly)
Gatherer (probably the most important teamate, gather wood and other stuffs in the adventure)
And another list for what you could do at the campfire (each have 3 levels/spots (at max, start from 1 spot, of course))
Workbench (you could create new items (like woodshield (protect you once from fire)) etc...)
Infirmary (heal one point for one spot (3 max partners when unlocking every level))
Scouting (only scout can gather stuffs (still not really sure if it works properly))
I have just encounter one little bug...when you are at the camp, sometimes it's very tricky to put more than 1 people at Workbench (but especially Infirmary and Scouting spots).
Not really sure why.
Also that would have been nice to be able to put more than item per adenturer...because using only once time an item per round is quite bad...especially when you don't have shield people (but at one point they feel a bit useless).
Another thing that could have been neat is to start with more health point (3 for each people is soooo low!)...or I don't know, maybe doing easy/normal/hard option at the start (or for the next iteration maybe?).
My rating → 6,5/10 (because of the difficulty setting a bit too high...sad because the game is quite nice (also nice music ! (sad there is no more songs))
Steam achievements corner :Hard (in my opinion). Even finishing the game is hard (last spots are quite tedious to say the least ! Especially if you don't have enough ressource to create items at the end)...

Short but interesting tactical game. Depending on the settlement you start, you begin the game with 4 companions and 3 to 4 professions ( 1 per member ). There are 6 professions that can heal, gather, protect, scout, craft or jump, 3 resources to gather and 6 items to create from that can help yo to negate the hazards you come across. Each companion can carry but 1 item to protect him/her from health loss (3/3).
Target is to reach The Valley after crossing some X zones. Between each zone you can select which path to take through ruins (more resources), towards a settlement (recruiting) or towards a trading post. You then also setup your camp and expand it for healing your companions, crafting items & equip them or scouting ahead to where each path leads to.
The game is turn based and only 1 member can move with each step you cross the hazardous terrain.
So choose well how your companions tread the terrain and who risks the unavoidable hazard(s).
Graphics are clear and simple, accompanied by some good but a bit sad music.
8 / 10. Recommended.
