Mind Diver (Student Version)
Mind Diver Continues!
The Student Version is getting made into a Full Version! Check it out here!
the GameThis is a free student project version of Mind Diver, meaning it has rough edges. Only a part of the planned story and content is in the game. We still think it’s a cool experience worth trying out though!
Mind Diver is a first-person detective game. You search a woman’s memories for clues to solving the mystery of what happened to her boyfriend after a party. As a Mind Diver you explore an ocean of memories. Use your logical deduction skills to fill out holes in memories to restore them.
Mind Diver’s unique investigation and deduction structure is developed in consultation with world-leaders in puzzle design, like Lucas Pope, creator of Return of the Obra Dinn. You will come across lots of unexpected discoveries and exploration of a fascinating mind world, with surprising deductions.
In Mind Diver, the story is the puzzle. Only by understanding the story can you progress.
Fresh, expressive 3D-scan style
The style creates an authentic experience, packed with details to study and explore. Paying close attention to detail helps you solve puzzles and brings you closer to the characters of the game.
Glimpses into a beautiful relationship
The memories float around in larger-than-life surreal landscapes, each centered around an emotion: Heartbreak, Worry, Hope, Regret and more. Every solution to a memory reveals not only more of the story, but also more clues to the overarching mystery that you are trying to solve. Mind Diver will make you feel like an actual detective by only giving you the clues and asking you to make the connection.
Pleasing and satisfying correction mechanic
Memories are restored by using your logical deduction skill to fill out empty holes in memories. You can pick up anything, even people from the memory or a nearby memory and fill out black memory holes to uncover suppressed secrets. Explore the mind world and think ahead to make the correct decision.
Satisfying, rhythmic swimming
As a Mind Diver you can freely swim around the landscapes to explore the mind. With the implementation of a satisfying, rhythmic swimming mechanic you are in control of your swim speed.
Helpful transportation slipstream
The slipstream connects you between multiple memories. The mind world offers an intriguing case, involving disappearances and deception, with a universal truth at the heart of the story. Getting to the bottom of the case is not easy, so you’ll feel like a genius detective as you solve satisfying, challenging puzzles.
Easy navigation through memory portals
You will come across a striking world and scan-visuals that evoke a unique feeling of reality. Memory portals will connect you between areas and ensure a simple, smooth travel between the clues you need to make each deduction.
Amazing atmosphere
As you explore the mind and work to solve the puzzles, the game atmosphere and soundtrack weave together to create a larger-than-life, melancholic atmosphere.
From everyone at Indoor Sunglasses: Have a nice dive.

Evocative and beautiful; I thought the performances and scope of the story was quite effective. I liked most of the puzzles, though at least one I'm not sure if I understood.
Very much looking forward to more Mind Diving and/or anything else from this team should we be fortunate enough to get it.

A roughly 2 hour puzzle teaser (film student project, really) where you progressively reveal a couple's story by literally filling in the blanks of their memories. You must use deductive reasoning and close (but not microscopic) observation of environmental and dialog clues to find nearby objects matching gaps in the scene.
As the store description states, the game isn't fully-polished and has a few bugs. However, I found it perfectly playable and the voice acting and detective work kept me engaged despite a few annoyances.
The Good
+Good voice acting
+Unique art style
+Requires deductive reasoning and an eye for details
+Fast travel
+A journal documents revealed dialog for quick reference
YMMV
~A number of missing subtitles, but audio's fine
~A few spelling errors/typos, but great for a non-English game
~You can brute force the puzzles if stumped
~Contains some sounds of eating and vomiting
~The last area has a warning of, "This area is more challenging". But what it really should have said was, "The mechanics here are a little different" and saved me some frustration.
The Bad
-Forced WASD controls
-Teleporting to main area occasionally puts you in swimming mode
-Journal occasionally redacts dialog you should have access to
-Possible to get directions from your handler at the same time as playing dialog, causing confusion

Mind Diver is a puzzle game where you are trying to piece together small fragments of memory. They are in these small bubbles with many objects you can pick up and a few “holes” that need to be filled. Through the context of the environment and voice recordings with missing dialogue you get clues on what is missing. It starts getting interesting when you have to start searching for objects in other memories/bubbles.
What I liked
- Engaging Investigation. Listening carefully to the stories and then investigating the environment is really fun. You feel like a detective trying to piece it all together. And because the story is part of the puzzle I feel engrossed to follow along and want to know what happens next even more. The voice acting and story was great.
- Good looking. The game has some nice visuals, especially for a student game. The 3d scan environment fits well with the realistic theming and gets away with the rough edges since it is supposed to be memories.
- Game Feel. Picking up objects feels and looks good. It’s satisfying to complete the memories.
- Nice Atmosphere. The environment and music really set this mysterious tone and the little swimming mini-game made it enjoyable enough to explore a bit.
What I didn’t like
- Unclear start. At the start I struggled a bit to know where to go and what to do. Some extra visual effect when “invisible walls” open up would be nice.
- Trial and Error. My biggest gripe is when you get frustrated with finding the answer it feels like I had to brute force it by just trying a bunch of random objects. I had three instances where I was not sure which object I needed. One of them was when there are two identical objects but only one of them counts. The other two I guessed out of a bunch of similar objects. Still not sure what the difference was.
- Minor technical issues. The subtitles went too fast in the police station and I had some spots where it showed a translation error. The polaroid camera also showed as a cube in my “hands”/inventory, not as the model it had.
SPOILERS:
*Two identical objects: There are two bikes with a horn at the collegiate. The one furthest to the right didn’t work.
*The door at the collegiate. Tried all of them and eventually one worked. I know it probably has something to do with it being painted recently or something from the voice recording but could not find the clue which colour.
*The wallet for the train station: They all looked pretty similar. The one that worked had a note sticking out but it was not very clear.
Why others should try it
It is a short game that sets up an interesting story. If you like story heavy games with a bit of puzzling in between this is for you. You do require some patience. Carefully listen to the voice recordings and investigate the environment. There are clues everywhere. I am looking forward to the full release.

Very Cool game and a beautiful concept. Personally I felt the swearing was unnecessary to the story itself but otherwise that is my only gripe with the game. I really loved the choice of art the tiny details that really make the player think sometimes. With some optimization and work, I would 100% buy the full game when it is released. Kudos to the developer team!

Really interesting and original concept. It was very satisfying when I figured out the right answers to restore the memories. I liked that all the clues were there but it still required some logical thinking. I did struggle with the controls though.
Great freebie, would love to see more!

Amazing little game. The graphics are pretty unique and the scales of the backgrounds and the memory bubbles really add to the worldbuilding. It is obvious a lot of love went into it. I really hope it gets a continuation, very curious where the story will go.
Perhaps my only tip would be to install a hint button for when you've been walking around for half an hour without any progress (train station was hard to figure out on my own ~w~)

I just finished all the available content for this game. Rather enjoyed everything I played it was a nice little experience. Nice visuals that look to be LIDAR capped environments and people with a low-poly aesthetic. Good enough voice acting, nobody wowed me but I wasn't disappointed in the performances. And the puzzles are simple and relatively easy but put together enough to provoke some deeper use of my mind.
Will be keeping an eye out for the full release.
