Milkmaid of the Milky Way
Milkmaid of the Milky Way is a short 90s style point-and-click adventure game with puzzles, exploration and an exciting story, written completely in rhyme!
Deep in a fjord, a girl and her bovine,
Western Norway, nineteen-twenty-nine.
This is a story from Calf Ledge,
a small farm perched on a mountain edge.
It’s 1920’s Norway, and you play as Ruth, a young woman who lives alone on a remote farm at the end of a faraway fjord. You take care of your cows and make delicious dairy products that your friend sells in the closest town. But the dairy business is not going so well, and life on the farm is lonesome and hard. And at nights mysterious things keep happening to Ruth and her cows, making Ruth wonder: Is this the life she wants?
Then one day a giant, golden ship descends from the sky, forcing Ruth out on a journey that will change her life.
Milkmaid of the Milky Way is a story about moving into the unknown, breaking free from the past, it’s a story about age, life, death and time – but most of all it’s a story about finding your own place in the universe.

A charming little point-and-click adventure with pixel art. It is fairly short, and I noticed a few minor plot holes, but it's still enjoyable. I played the entire game on my Steam Deck.
A note for Steam Deck users: the game initially would not launch for me. To fix it, open the game’s Properties, select Compatibility, enable “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool,” and choose Proton 9.0-4. After doing that, it launched and played through without any issues.

Refreshing, Retro, Rhyme
For those who are not fans of Retro, this game has a lot to offer, a deep engaging plot, a spaceship and fun easy puzzles, and even a final boss battle. All turn-based of course. Dialog is delivered in nice single sentences, and slows you up, because most of it is delivered in rhyme, and with intent. Clues are hidden in the rhymes and dialog that mean you have to take them in, to solve each puzzle efficiently. The game is very efficient, none of the take this item, carry it there, use it there and then come back to here, then go hither . It's set on a steep mountain slope and for a moment you think you will not meet any other characters at all. A storm has just passed through and so the first few tasks is to repair things before you explore the beautiful surroundings. Oh and make some milk, which triggers the appearance of the first human. At that point you get to really meet your own character's well... her character proper.
Self Rescuing Princess
Ruth is very much self reliant, and I just love me female hero and female antagonist games. Girl versus girl stories really makes you think about your role in society as a male, because girls can and do do all of the things. Ruth is interested in this bloke, and he is kind-of bashful, so this is the part of the game where you can decide what kind of girl she is for yourself. Anyway, there is a spaceship in this story and so once Ruth has looked after her cows and made some butter and had an encounter with a possible love interest, her cows get abducted. You expected that, I hope I'm not spoiling the plot, but Ruth is a hero and I have to celebrate her victory over the cow thieves. At this point the plot twists, turns on itself, and then concludes in exactly the way the title of the game hints at. So although there is a lot of sadness in the game, it has a very happy ending. Even a party, but sadly no beer due to a corrosion incident. Reminded me of so many retro games in my youth it did.

The only game I've ever played in my own native language. It was so cute reading all the rhymes in norwegian!
Bra jobba! <3

Short, but fun point-and-click game with an interesting setting for a sci-fi story (a fjord). I liked the oldschool-ish pixel art.

Nice game, if you have problems with the window opening and immediately minimizing on a large screen or multi-monitor setup, just add "-window-mode borderless -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080" to the launch options, that should solve the problem.

Very atmospheric, short game with intuitive but not entirely braindead puzzles. 2 hours gameplay, without guides.
