Step into the boots of Boyd Travers, Private First Class of the “All-American” 82nd Airborne Division, and revolutionize the way the war is fought. From a rocky beginning in Sicily to war winning triumphs in the heart of Germany, fight the epic WWII battles that turned America’s first paratroopers into combat legends. Begin each mission from the air and behind enemy lines, then jump immediately into the action. On the ground, tackle objectives in any order across an expansive, free-roaming environment, using a wide variety of upgradeable weapons to your strategic advantage.

"If it's got wings or wheels, it's ours. If it doesn't, we'll make it that way."
Medal of Honor: Airborne is an FPS set in World War 2, but with a twist. While a fair amount of the game is "standard" for the genre, you begin each mission (and many subsequent checkpoints if you die) by parachuting into the battlefield. Apart from being a novel approach (to my knowledge), this offers other benefits in the form of choosing where to begin or which angle to approach your mission from, as well as being able to advance if you happen to die. A word of caution however: this cuts both ways. You can land in the wrong area and find yourself cut down almost instantly, so choose your landing with care.
I played on Expert, so my experience may differ from lower settings. Even at maximum difficulty, it is a short game - although experience may also play a role here. The enemies for the first half of the game were less of a challenge than the weapons: it is very unlike Call of Duty where your shots are generally bang on target. In addition to aiming (obviously), you will find your shots inexplicably missing; there were numerous occasions where I could not hit enemies five metres away from me for no apparent reason. This is offset partially by levelling/upgrading your weapons, but you may find yourself being frustrated until you can get some additional pieces. Balance wise, the game feels good: on Expert, the enemies rarely felt unfairly balanced (even the Ubersoldat) and often it was more down to poor positioning, reckless play or being unable to hit the target, rather than being overwhelmed by bullet sponges. Finally, the missions in the game are based on real battles/objectives during World War 2 (e.g. Operation Market Garden and a spin on D-Day) which is what a player would want, and does no harm to the game's credibility.
As most will no doubt know, this game was not without its problems at launch, although I experienced very few myself. One of the first things you will want to do (you may want to try the default scheme just in case) is to change the control/aim/lean layout. Follow the below guide to improve your experience (all credit to OP):
Without changing the layout, it was virtually unplayable for me; I have become very used to the "normal" approach of being able to aim down sight and move, and to unlearn that would be difficult as well as detrimental to other games.
If you would prefer to return the game to its original state/experience, you can also install the Uncut patch (all credit to OP):
Further improvements and tweaks can be found at the PCGamingWiki page (
Ultimately, I feel this is the weakest of the World War 2 entries in the Medal of Honor series on PC. It is not a bad game (once it has been updated/patched), but it is also difficult to call it a must-play (notwithstanding the fact that it is no longer available on Steam). Nonetheless, if you are willing to make the effort and enjoy a challenge, you can find enjoyment here.
Played on Windows 11 Pro x64 without any issues. In addition to the above, I had to create custom overrides in Windows Security for Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and Mandatory ASLR and force them both to off. Without these overrides, the game would not launch at all.
P.S. For the masochistic, install Medal of Honor: Airborne Redux (

What I wouldn't give for a remake of this game with a less arcade style story, longer missions, same soundtrack design, and an updated multiplayer

Recently replayed it after watching Band of Brothers for like, the 80th time
This game is really quite unique in how much it hits yet how much it misses as well. For starters, I played it on the hardest difficulty because I wanted a challenge and a challenge is what I got. Enemies in every corner of the map know where you are the second you touch down. In many parts of the campaign, enemies will also keep spawning forever until you take a certain objective or enter a specific area. But the worst is just how the enemy will hit you. You could be standing out in the open and the enemy AI will miss several shots before hitting you once, but you could also be crouching behind some crates and if ever one sliver of your arm is exposed, or there's a tiny slit/opening between the crates, the enemy will shoot you through it with the precision of Lord of the Rings archers. Granted, this goes both ways and you as the player can also snipe between those crevices, but it becomes a pain when an enemy 300 feet away in a building is sniping you through a crack in the wall the size of a quarter. The gunplay is unrealistic but I kind of like it. You can have a Thompson with a 50 round drum magazine and unload it on the enemy in like 3 seconds with very little recoil. You can hold up to 21 grenades (a mix of gammon grenades, stick grenades and regular grenades) and recreate a small cluster bomb strike with the amount of destruction you can cause with them, although you can't throw them very far. The AI has to be the biggest drawback for me however. It's not the worst ever, but it's bad. For starters, the allied AI: it's there to be a meat shield, nothing more. Medal of Honor has always been a one man army series and Airborne is no different, it simply adds the allied AI to give you the false illusion that you have help. The friendly AI couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and will blatantly miss enemies that are within feet of them. The enemy AI isn't much better. While depending on the difficulty chosen, they may be a cakewalk or absolutely rock your shit, it doesn't change the absurd choices the AI will make. In many cases, the AI knows when you are aiming at them and will move, or if they're behind cover, they will stay there until you aim elsewhere. Not all the time, but enough to notice that they do it. They will also take aim almost exclusively at you once you enter an area, even if you have several allies nearby. The oddest choice for me is when the AI stops to do a hand signal animation. They normally do it out in the open and it makes them very easy targets to pick off. Beyond this, they will switch between not being able to hit you to killing you in less than a second and there's no in-between. I still enjoy the game every once in a while, I just wish it was longer.
Overall I'd give it a 7/10. Still an OK game, enjoyed a lot of it for the nostalgia.

Me and my best friend Julian both LOVED this game growing up and even though I was too stupid and young to finish it at the time on the Xbox 360 I still have immense love and nostalgia for MoH Airborne and the MoH franchise as a whole -- One of the better WW2 games of its era in a time in gaming when everyone it seemed was releasing a game set during the Second World War but without spoiling the fun it well and truly set itself apart from the rest with its tagline gameplay element: Airborne, like the title tells you'll be dropping in behind enemy lines and what awaits you from there is up to you!
That being said shame on you EA for delisting this classic, thankful I picked it up when I did.

10 / 10 graphic bugs and black models in a high quality set but still love it because this is my childhood.
