MECHANICA: A Ballad of the Rabbit and Mercury is a solid JRPG set in the distance future within the cyberpunk world of Guillotine. The concept of the game is an appealing one with the use of time management and music being focal points. The gist of it is that the area is destroyed and resets after a few days. Yourself along with your trusty maid robot waifu, Meca-Nica, are tasked to uncover the mysteries and put a stop to this to save the world. This is done by exploring the area and playing music to the residents to uncover information and progress through the storyline.
The gameplay is entertaining in all aspects of the game including the sidescrolling exploration, music performances and dialogue to read. Dialogue and interactions are both comedic and serious at times, and overall is a great and fun read. This is probably my favourite portion of the game since there are a lot of casual and funny conversations to be had.
By interacting with specific characters, you build relationships and affinity with them which enables certain actions that can be performed. This ranges from cute and friendly gestures like giving the girls headpats and silly tongue twisters say, to the lewd actions further on. The lewds themselves are pleasing to the eyes as well.
Visually and graphically, the game does look immersive and superb as an anime and cyberpunk fan. The characters are well designed with cute girls and interesting characters like anthropomorphic people. A variety of the city residents are available to be met, each with their own traits and personality which brings the world of Guillotine to life. This is accompanied well with the detailed environment and backgrounds of the world which has a lot of charm including the city sights and the great outdoors.
Music and audio within the game are also enjoyable to listen to and are another highlight. From the song that plays in the main menu to the opening sequence to the music you perform throughout the game since it is a music centric game, they all they wonderful to listen to. A soundtrack would be welcomed because the game does have some beautiful and lovely songs.
The controls are straightforward enough to play with and the keys for actions and settings are shown at the top of the game window. Though I’m not sure if there is a fullscreen option so if there isn’t, it would be nice to have this addition.
The price point is well worth it for what it brings to the table. It has an absorbing story and theme, fun characters and dialogue, and exceptional music to listen to throughout. Overall, it is a great and interesting JRPG H-game set in a cyberpunk background. It is definitely worth checking out if you enjoy both anime and cyberpunk together.

Translation has been significantly improved, you can actually understand what is going on most of the time.
But it's quality is amateur at best, which is understandable. I like the game and could do some editing on translation writing, since it has a lot of typos and sometimes things just don't make sense.
Particularly, explanation of Chronos Call makes zero sense, and I think it's because of the translation that some meaning was lost...

I did a full stream of the non-steam version and bought this so I could review the game. If it wasn't for the mandatory molest the maid to gain stamina mechanic, this would be hands-down, no questions asked, the greatest game I ever played. Unfortunately, that mechanic is there, so as it stands, it is merely one of the greatest games I ever played. And is one of the few games that I would say must be played at least once in your lifetime.
As far as H-games goes, it stands well on its own merits and I was more invested in the plot than the ero scenes.
It had a plot and lore I found beautiful, a very good choice of music and not the same standard ones you usually see in H-games, and it has the unique distinction of causing me to break out into a crying fit on my stream.
Considering what the game looks like, its surprising that it was made in RPG maker and really looks like a passion project. You can tell how much the devs enjoyed that they were working on. I hope to some day have an opportunity to see another game in this setting.
Edit (12/10/21): since I've seen some reviews on the subject: yeah, the translation leaves a bit to be desired, but it's not the worst translation I've seen, and more importantly, it was't bad enough to be a dealbreaker.
Edit (12/20/21): One more thing I'd like to disclose about my experience: I used a save editor to bypass the hentai mechanics, so I was able to enjoy the game more on its own merits.

Marvelous game. I played the demo and didn't understand s**t since it was in japanese, but loved the art and the music. Now that it's translated, with full play experience I can totally recommend it. Not just the art and music, but the story and gameplay are simply great. It's not your average RPG or VN, it's something completely new. If you liked Robolife-Days with Aino, you'll love this game. If you didn't, you'll still love it. Play it with the patch from OTAKU Plan's webpage. The only thing I think could be improved is the quality of the uncensored images, they kinda look like made in MS Paint at times. I long for the day when japanese games come uncensored from the source...
