maidens of the ocean solitaire is a typical +1/-1 solitaire with an underwater theme. 120 levels unlocked one by one, sorted into 12 packs, unlocked with a certain amount of stars. no difficulty settings and levels can be replayed separately, which is always nice, doesn't waste anybody's time. instead of the usual interactive tutorial, a help screen can be brought up, explaining what's what on the screen.
completion is based on two goals: getting enough stars and clearing the seashell cards. the level is failed if you can't manage, but whatever money got collected during the attempt is not lost. no need to clear every card, in fact, the level ends immediately when the last goal card is gone, so keep an eye on the progress bar on top if you don't want to finish prematurely with fewer stars. a minor complaint: the bar only changes after reaching a star goal, not card by card, and it's not always easy to tell if the final goal card should be clicked yet or not, hoping it'd trigger the final star.
money can be spent on power-ups, the usual +1 undo, show number of cards left, wildcard, etc. I finished the game without getting enough money to buy everything, but I kept less useful ones for later and it'll be random for everyone based on combo multipliers, retries, etc. I wouldn't mind if money was visible while playing, not only in the shop.
no story as such, but completing each pack adds a mermaid to the 'party' screen and the backgrounds can be viewed in a gallery from the menu. separate volume settings, some card customization, windowed mode and a widescreen toggle, which very elegantly expands the background to fill the screen instead of stretching everything. nice.
the presentation is fine with some really great background images. the music matches the theme but gets repetitive fast, I turned it off after a while. if you're looking for a mermaid-based solitaire, this is definitely one. took me 3 hours to 3-star every level.

This is a good time waster plus it has those pretty pixels underwater. The usual gameplay and OST will satisfy that itch for a solitaire game.

This publisher has made several solitaire games that are pretty good quality, but aren't quite as entertaining as the Jewel Match Solitaire series. I recommend buying these games just to give you more variety if you have extra money. The default card set looks really nice. It appears that are some bugs. I just reached the 3rd level and it wouldn't let me play the card I needed to win. I kept trying to click on the card and it didn't move.

It's a okay card game, not worth the full price but if it's on sale. I recommend buying it as a time waster.

What is this game about?
Maidens of the Ocean is a solitaire type game where you are drawing one card and need to combine it with another card that is one higher or lower than your card. You usually win by removing the marked cards and, conversely, lose if you run out of cards to draw. There are tons of levels, but not many twists to the core gameplay other than a few expensive upgrades you can buy which make the game easier.
The positive
+ Good artwork. The scenery paintings are well done, although there aren't many of them.
The neutral
* Gameplay is basic. Considering the title and type of the game you should know what you are getting by know. Personally I would have preferred some kind of innovation, but for a casual, relaxing game, it delivers what it promised. I also wished the upgrades were a bit cheaper.
The negative
- Music is repetitive. It's a shame when this happens - the soundtrack itself is awesome, but not when you hear it for the 100th time. The game needs more soundtrack options.
Conclusion:
If you're looking for a simple, casual solitaire style game, this is it.

Absolutely gorgeous and awesome!
This solitaire game feels right to play in every way. I have finished it now after around 6h of playing. You can buy upgrades such as wild cards, deleting cards on the field or undo steps. The levels are fun and you shouldn't get stuck if you give it a few tries. I have not encountered any bugs or crashes. Everything is positive about this game, especially the awesome artwork! :D
I love it. <3
