I can't believe how Relaxing, Elegant, Graceful, and colourful this game really is. I really dont know how to discribe this game and put into words for you. But I am just really enjoying it so far, the music is pieceful, Elegent and beautiful. The Lumini are very cute, until I loose 1 to a beast then I feel a bit moved and want to cry. The sounds they make are just ever so cute and adorable. Look I am just enjoying this game, and have no regrets buying the Deluxe Edition, I feel I have earnt it.
This game certainly is not like Hero of Many, it has its own unique style and it plays really well with the Xbox Controller. I am really enjoying this game so much more than when I played "Hero of Many", but again they are very differant games, and this game Lumini is so much more prettier as well.
( So please as people have done, dont compare "Hero of Many" and " Lumini" as they are both unique and differant ).
I can only say that I am very impressed with this game so far, from what I have seen and played of the game so far.
If your a fan of cuteness, elegences, pretty and relaxing games with pieceful and graceful music, then this game is a great addition to your library. All I can say is the store page and youtube footage shares a much better picture than I can share.
Bottom line is Im really loving this game, it has plenty of pretty and cuteness in it, and this I really enjoy greatly in a game :)
Great job making this game.

Lumini is a extremely relaxing experience that sees you controlling a flock of birds through beautiful scenery.
The difference with this game as oppose to others is that you control a whole flock of birds instead of just a single one. This I was expected would be difficult. But the developers have managed to nail the controls of movement perfectly. Monouvering the birds is simple and fluid and I never had a single problem. Each bird follows in a kind of trail.
The game uses a unique control method to make some puzzles. You are able to split your group into 2 different smaller groups. These are used to press buttons in different parts of the level. Some buttons have to be hold down both at the same time to open a door which is why 2 groups are needed. You can also control fans by spinning around them. Controlling the fans was sometimes a bit fiddly to do unfortunately. I really wish they had used this unique system to make some more intricate puzzles because the ones they used in lumini were extremely basic.
Lumini doesn't really have a goal as such. All you are really doing is exploring. The world that you are exploring is truly beautiful. The graphics style lumini uses isn't disimilar to the likes of trine 1 and 2. It's like a 3D environment but you only control in 2D. It's called 2.5D. The world is full of colour and depth. There is a lot of variety with environments such as caves, outdoors, trees and rain. This was such a pleasant experience just being able to explore the beautifully crafted world.
Interactivity with the environment is also something that the game uses a lot. When flying their are crystals in the background that light up, vegitation that sways, leaves that fall off the tree and loads more. It really does help to make the game actually seem real. There are always things happening in the background as well such as exploring animals or trees swaying.
Within your swarm you have 5 different types of birds. Each of them has a different ability. These include abilities like bomb, speed boost and electricity. Although in my playthrough I only used the speed boost and bomb ability to take out enemies. The others I felt were fairly useless. But this does create an element of strategy. You need to try can keep at least 1 of each of the types of birds alive within your swarm so you can use the abilities.
Throughout exploring you will find certain collectables and other pickups. The most important pickups would be energy and health. Energy is used to get more birds at each checkpoint. The more energy you have, the more birds you can get. The health just keeps your birds alive. Other collectables can also be found around the world. They don't actually seem to have a use though. The game doesn't explain what the other collectables are for so I have no idea. I found one that wasn't activtaed so I couldn't pick it up. But I had no idea how to activate it.
In the basis of the game there is prety much no challenge. You may loose some of your birds, but it is nearly impossible to loose all of them to a point of dieing out. I have no idea what happens in this situation becaue I didn't manage to loose them all. But if you do want a challenge there are some very difficult achievements. These include things like keeping all of the birds alive, not killing any enemy and getting all energy. You also unlock a hard mode after your first playthrough. They will add a tonne of time to the playthrough if you tried to get them all.
Overall the experience was extremly enjoyable and relaxing. It was a welcome break from some other hardcore games. Although if you are a strictly hardcore gamer this game is definitely not for you. The game unfortunately did only take me 1.5 hours to complete though. It isn't a very long length. So some people may consider £7.99 to be a slightly steep price for the amount of content. But I would personally recommend it at that price due to the perfect world you will get to explore. You really won't find the same experience anywhere else.

Lumini is a pleasant, well-made game about destroying every living thing in the planet with your bastard murderflies. It's described on its store page as "relaxing", more an "experience" than a game, and so on - which feels true but is not exactly so, since there are tons of secrets to find and enemies that to (theoretically) avoid or, more likely, shockwave into cute little corpses. Your horde of genocidal insect-things will quickly learn how to kill other living beings, and then it's kind of hard to stop before the whole world's ecosystem is brought low. I'm pretty sure that is how the game is intended to be played.
It's very pretty, with great music and a surprising variety of environments. Unfortunately I didn't really find it to be a lot of fun - I never clicked with the controls, with their weird dead zone while rotating the analog sticks, and the puzzles never really evolve into something that's actually interesting to solve. I never felt the splitting mechanic really came into its own, either. However, finding secrets and destroying every animal and plant in my path was compelling enough to see me through to the end. The difficulty is low enough that you can almost treat this as a flittering simulator, taking in the sights and enjoying all the murder. How dare these filthy vegetable-ish things try to spread their pollen in my vicinity? I'll show them. I'll show them all.

This is such an amazing game, very very beautiful. <3
To save your dying planet you have to guide your Lumini swarm to sacred place collecting energy and bringing more of Lumini to life - this happens at big blue shining cubes (it's also a save). The path takes you through deep mines, deserted wastelands, calm forests and forgotten ruins. You will meet dangerous animals and plants, you have to be very careful on your way. There are secret ways and "puzzles" too - pushing buttons to open your way and so (in these situations you will divide your Lumini to two separate swarms).
To protect yourself you can stun your enemies and fly away, also you can use special ability of each Lumini type (four in total). You will be reborn as a purple one, this one is precious as it is NOT added upon visiting blue cube, so if you lose them on your way they are lost forever... Other are blue, they have stun and rush - this is perfect when flying away from enemies to safety. Red ones are fighters, their stun (! careful when aiming for no-kill) and special ability is attack, with them you can kill enemies and clear your path permanently. The last, yellow, have stun and can pull the energy to themselves, makes the collecting easier, but watch out for nasty surprises. Each Lumini, except for purple, can be evolved two times and their skill gets better accordingly. Every Lumini counts, you have to protect the whole swarm, not just the one in lead. With bigger swarm this proves to be very challenging (I have yet to try to not let any Lumini die).
The game itself could be more balanced (but as I understand it, it's a school project!). Especially when you aim on collecting all energy your swarm gets really big and the game can experience serious lag, best thing is to stop, slow down and move away from location. When you search for energy you can get behind walls and not be able to get back, resulting in restarting the game (you can come back through water if you are lucky). Few times I have also experienced game crash, even restaring my system (last time I completed the game without any crush in one go). Also I am bit struggling with achievements now, especially with collecting all energy.
Lumini has beautiful graphic design and the story told through the world around you is sad and full of emotions, soundtrack is corresponding with it very much - it's on my wishlist now, will buy it for Christmas. I like the little details - when you touch water with your Lumini they will start to happily chatter, when you fly through trees their leaves starts to fall down, all these things make it very special. At the end I was touched very deeply.
Would love to have my Lumini as plushies, they are beautiful.

The Game: Lumini
Review
Lumini is a fun colorful game. I am not sure that I would say that this game is relaxing because everytime that one of my Lumini was killed I felt pretty bad. It's not very complex, but it's difficult enough that you can't just fly through it. It has a certain look to it that I really enjoy. It runs pretty well on my computer. I suggest buying this on sale.
Pros:
+ Colorful
+ Nice Soundtrack
+ Pretty Graphics
+ Good level of Difficulty
+ Different type of Lumini and powers.
Cons:
- Kind of gets Repetitive
- 12.99 is a high price. Suggested to buy it on Sale.

The Story of the Voyage of the Lumini
The Prologue
I am going to tell a story to all who are willing to hear of how our tribe of Lumini left our home to find a safe haven, but first I have to tell you the culture and the social structure of our society. First I think you should know who your Narrator is: I am a Purple Lumini who the other Lumini call 'Mythic'. The first group of Lumini lived peacefully for thousands of years. They lived a complex life and communicated like how dolphins do. Every morning we would send out Blue Lumini which were known for their speed. The Blue Lumini were known as the scouts who would search out and find energy orbs which is our way of life. Energy orbs is like how honey is to bees. The Blue Lumini would go out with Yellow Lumini which could gather the energy orbs and bring them back to our home so we could grow and expand. We built great structures and we improved our way of life day by day. Prosperity and abundance abounded. Then one day, our gathers came back and some were missing. The ones who survived told of terrifying tales of horrifying monsters and deadly wildlife. Soon we had to send Red Lumini out with the scouts and gathers so they could defend them. Even then we still lost some Lumini every time we left the safety of our home. Soon it was clear that our once peaceful home was riddled with a growing evil, and that we had to leave. This is the story of the jounrey of the Lumini to their new sanctuary.
Chapter One: A Journey of a Thousand Miles begins with a Single Step
I remember the day when our chieftain, a Blue Lumini named 'Big Blue', decided that it was time to leave our homes to find a new place where we could be safe and live like we used to. Big Blue was one of the wisest and the most trusted Lumini that I have ever met. He was the biggest Blue Lumini I have ever seen. His son, Lil' Blue, was being raised to take the place of Big Blue because Big Blue was very elderly. Ironically Lil' Blue was one of the smallest Blue Lumini. So when Big Blue said that we should leave our homes for a safe haven that might not even be out there no one doubted him. I feared that the journey would be too much for Big Blue physically. When I spoke to Big Blue about my concern he told me not to worry because he was youthful in spirit. I knew there was no way I could talk him out of it so I started to help with the countless preparation of getting ready for the journey. The morning we were going to leave had an electricity in the air that I will never forget. Our group started out with one Purple Lumini (the narrator), three Red Lumini (the warriors), two Yellow Lumini (the gathers), and seven Blue Lumini (the scouts and Big Blue). The first few days the travel was light and we gathered energy orbs as we went. The more we traveled the more of the world I was able to see. Maybe the journey wouldn't be as bad as I may have feared.
Chapter Two: The Encounter
The more distance we covered the more dangers slowly started popping up. At first there were just red spikes we had to avoid which was easy enough. Then there were deadly plants that would shoot out poisonous spikes which wasn't a problem with the great leadership of Big Blue. There were many obstacles we had to get through, but again Big Blue guided us with such wisdom that we got through them without a problem. As we traveled we found ourselves in a huge opening and up ahead at the only way to exit was a flying monster. . Its teeth was almost the size of Lil' Blue, and its size was bigger than our group put together. We waited hoping that the beast would leave, but it did not budge. The sun was starting to go down, and Big Blue knew if we did not find shelter soon that we all would be doomed. Big Blue knew there was only one option left. He signaled for Lil' Blue to lead the whole group through the opening once the monster moved. Big Blue went forward and zoomed past the monster and it started to chase after Big Blue. Once the opening was clear Lil' Blue lead the group through the opening. I took one look back and I saw Big Blue fighting back against the monster, but the odds were too much and Big Blue was stricken down with a fatal blow. As we found shelter for the night there seemed to be a fog in the minds of every Lumini in the group. Will Lil' Blue be able to lead us? Can Lil' Blue handle the new responsibility as chieftain? Only time can tell...

Lumini is a beautiful, simple and relaxing game to play.
The creatures you play as are cute little creatures that light up the place as you traverse caves.
Your main goal in the game is to make it to the next checkpoint, collecting little orbs of light along the way. Once you reach the checkpoint, you add more Lumini to your pack. They will replace the ones lost due to enemies attacking you.
Different coloured Lumini have different abilities. Allowing you to play in a more offensive way, killing all enemies you see, or evading them with speed boosts.
There are quite a few hidden areas in the game, which gives you a purpose to explore the caves apart from just enjoying the beautiful scenery.
The music is quite beutiful, and helps immerse you in the world.
It's a great game overall, check it out!

PSA: Before I write anything else, you should know that this game is best with an Xbox controller. Unlike many other games, the mechanics are actually built around the use of dual sticks. The KB+Mouse controls work, but I felt compelled to switch after a few minutes.
Lumini is a fine game. It doesn't lack flaws, with some awkward controls and some chugging performance, but these flaws are not nearly enough to make the game bad or even mediocre. It has some really pretty visuals, the mechanics are somewhat inventive and feel good to use (aside from some spinning puzzles that made my thumbs hurt a bit), and the concept of playing as a flock of bird-like beings is wonderful. Losing health means that the flock gets smaller, you switch between different types of birds to use different abilities (catering to different playstyles) and your flock getting bigger throughout the game also means that it's harder to avoid damage. It's inspired and deserves praise, since it means that you have less UI breaking you out of the experience, in a way that makes sense.
What is less good, however, is the lack of information. The game only tells you how to do things, but not what they do; that is something you have to figure out yourself. That means that some things become very unintuitive. I went through the whole game without knowing what the yellow birds did, for instance (it apparently attracts items, its ability working like a magnet?) and there are other things that can easily be misunderstood (there is an upgrade orb in the game, which shifts when you switch bird type and applies the upgrade to the "equipped" type - this is easy to miss). I still don't know what some of the items do, because they were seemingly never used. Even the camera limits your information, being very zoomed in, even if this aspect is less egregious because of a solid sound design. There is value in letting players experiment in the game, but keeping them in the dark to this degree was a mistake, I believe.
Don't let this distract you however; this game is still good. And I want to touch on one last thing. I read some about the game after I played it, and apparently the game shifts according to your playstyle. When you stun an enemy, you get access to the red birds; when you evade a lot, you get the blue; collecting things gives you the yellow. If I'm not mistaken, this might also apply to the amount of each bird that you fill out your flock with. I never used yellow birds, and I noticed that I had few in my flock by the end. This is the kind of interesting design that makes this game deserve attention. It's a good experience, yes; but I think that another major draw to play this game is to simply see systems you might not see in other games.
In some ways, Lumini is a bit hard to get through. Your experience with it might vary; mine was overall positive. But I think that regardless, Lumini is very much worth playing if only for the novelty of it, for the fact that it's something fresh and for the learning that can be gained from studying it. With that in mind, I do think that it's worthy of your time.
