Played it on the Wii U, Switch, and PC. I keep coming back to this overlooked gem of the LEGO games. The city is so vibrant and detailed, the story is funny, the vehicle gameplay is the best in the series. It's memed as "LEGO GTA" but i feel like it undercuts the game. It's such a solid and replayable game and it's surprising that it was TT Fusions first attempt at a big AAA release, as they previously made the handheld ports of the lego games.

One of my favorite LEGO games
I liked the characters, except maybe for that idiot Honey.
There's the usual story line, which is a lot of fun. Feels a bit like a James Bond plot. I found the humor generally enjoyable. For the record, I am over 50. But I like light comedy, like cartoons. The world is depressing. I don't always see the point to trying to enjoy depressing entertainment as well, like so many movies can be. This game is very lighthearted, it makes me smile. For example, the parody of Starsky and Hutch was great. Funny they chose such an old franchise to parody, although I think the game is a bit of an homage to 70s cop shows, but it's set in the modern era.
The city is fun to work at getting 100% completion. To me, this was the main appeal, and kept me playing it a lot. Because after time had gone by, and I could not remember where all the hidden stuff was, replaying it was not a problem. Someone with a better memory, or more easily bored probably would not replav it. The city is quite vertical, which I found fun. There's a lot of sidequests to complete so IMO, there's some variety.
There are a LOT of vehicles and characters to use and play with. Seems like almost every character in the game, is playable, and you can customize. Personally, I liked the sports cars and motorcycles. And you get "turbo" on cars, improved with unlocks, making driving around fun.
If you are looking for a lighthearted, humorous LEGO game, not tied to some oversold franchise like Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Potter, etc...consider this game.
I only wish it had a sequel!

This game really is Lego GTA and any kid who is too young to play GTA would really love this as an alternative. It’s more than just a game for kids though LEGO City Undercover has a lot of charm and good game design. I actually laughed at a couple of the cutscenes too which are genuinely funny and sometimes pretty surreal.
There are two games here with the open world city and then the more traditional LEGO game sections. The Lego games in general are filled with character and creativity, they are really comforting to play. This one also has some surprises as the developers push the boundaries with some awesome set pieces.
It actually gets pretty epic towards the end and they tick all the boxes for awesomeness. So many cool things happen throughout the story that you can tell the devs really cared about making a fun game.
LEGO City Undercover is a great example of a LEGO game with the added spectacle of the open world LEGO city. Everything is designed very well and it really is impressive the huge amount of things they have ‘legofied’ into this game. I really enjoyed it and I’ll be playing more LEGO games in future.
