You might only be reading this because you have the game in your library (it is hidden from steam being it's not on the steam store).
So here it is: You cannot play this offline on your steam deck, on your living room TV, or even on your PC and that sucks ass. You know what doesn't suck ass, the steam console and a thing called a legacy file.
All you need to do to play this wonderful game with your friends on the couch, on a big telly with your steam deck and four wireless controllers of your choosing is to type this into the steam console.

then you've got to delete everything in your original game file and replace it with the old legacy game files you've just downloaded. They might be someplace close to here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\
You won't be connecting to any servers on game launch so just answer 'no' when you load up and it tries to connect. ALSO don't allow auto update, or else you may just patch yourself out of the game again AND do create a backup of the legacy file because it might not be hanging around when you do want it.

This was one of my favorite games when it was still live and I will not let it vanish even if it means playing a local game with just one or two close friends.

this gme was retired back on 2023 but it still remains fun even now used to play it all the time, i hope to one day get enough people to see this comment and bring it back to active status
