Kokoro Ultimate

So you've read the description and now you're down here in the comments trying to figure out what's it all about. Click the video above to see some of the gameplay, mechanic and hear my thoughts on the game.
Kokoro Ultimate is a 3D fighter that puts you in the shoes of the main protagonist, Arcane Spectrum, as he tries to retrieve an amulet of power from the games antagonist Ryzon and his goons. The game features a story mode that will unfold all the twist and turns of the plot so I don’t want to give any spoilers here but there’s a lot going on; so make sure you dive into that right away.
The game labels itself as a “3D fighter” but I would put it more into the category of a action/beat’um up. While the presentation/format of the game is traditional fighter, i.e. two characters facing off against each other in arena, health bars, etc. The controls of the game are more akin to Streets of Rage than Street Fighter. You have your standard attack options (high/low angles) along with grabs and the ability to brandish weapons that you see in all fighters; along with the ability to string combos together both on ground and in air. But something that most fighters don’t have is an easy to accessibility. All the special maneuvers are simple a button + direction press away. No ridiculous multidirectional analog stick rock followed by several button presses to just launch a fireball.
Every fighter has unique personalities, special abilities and transformation. Yes, you read that right; transformations. I won’t divulge too many details here, because it is a lot of fun to experience them for yourself; but imagine if you could just transform yourself into a dragon halfway through the fight and rain fire breath upon your opponents. Imagine if Ryu could’ve turned into a dragon and fire breathed Bison. Plus each transformation has their own unique special abilities that are different than the normal characters. So there is a lot of different ways to play a character from one fight to the next.
Overall, Kokoro Ultimate is a fun and interesting fighter. Fans of beat’em ups will have as much fun playing this game as any diehard fighter pros will. Currently there is only Story, local VS and practice modes available. The Dev/Publisher has committed to bring several new modes in the future such as online VS and nightmare mode, so be on the lookout for those. The character roster at the moment is only 6’ish characters but that can also be expanded in the future. I feel that this game is def worth picking up at the moment and it’s only going to get better with future updates.
