KNIGHTS AND BIKES is a hand-painted action-adventure for 1 or 2 players, set on a British island in the 1980s. It's a coming-of-age story starring Nessa & Demelza, exploring the coasts of Penfurzy on their trusty bikes, looking for a legendary lost treasure in a Goonies-inspired tale of excitement, danger, fun and friendship. The two new friends, along with their pet-goose and the pickled-head of an undead knight, form the Penfurzy Rebel Bicycle Club, and are ready for anything this adventure throws at them. They pedal into danger to face threats head-on with frisbees, water-balloons, video game controllers and the powerful beats of an amplified boom-box.

Review from 2020:
Super cute and wholesome game about a little girl coping with the loss of her mom. The coop AI is very smart, only getting hung up once. Cute cute cute.

I was looking for a game to play with a friend and this game seemed to suit the bill nicely. It's whimsical and fun, and has both co-op elements and light combat. My friend has not been a hardcore, lifelong gamer like myself and I wanted to start with something easier. I also didn't want a game where we were fighting each other or just clobbering everything. Some of the battles were tough, even from the perspective of someone with more experience, but we muddled our way through. Fighting tends to be more strategy than brute force. I liked that neither of us had been exposed to the game before so we got to explore it and figure it out together. My main gripe mechanics-wise is that the bikes were hard to get going and steer, but eventually you get them rolling enough to careen onward.
Overall I found the game fun and it made me laugh quite a few times with its innocent humor. I love that the goose follows you around everywhere. It was a nice way to spend a few nights with a friend. The plot is light and a bit generic, but that leaves more room to explore without any pressure.
Also, I had a hard time figuring out how to upgrade the bikes early on. If you hit Escape there's an option to do it in the menu! You don't have to be in the bike shop; you can do it anywhere at any time!

The positive review is by a narrow margin, because there is quite a lot going on in the game, and several parts of it are definitely not at their peak implementation (controls in general, object recognition, some enemies, and more). However, there is good counterbalance in an interesting, not too forced story, a solid solution for the "replay a day" feature, and some nicely unexpected subversions of usual game expectations. The game has a slow start, but turns out to be quite enjoyable towards the end.
Fun side note: Other Double Fine games suffered from a poor auto-save feature, whereas this one auto-saves like crazy!

This is a very sweet, imperfect and charming game. The highlights for me after playing it are the story and the soundtrack. It is a game that feels like childhood: charming and wonder-eyed. It won't click with everyone and it is not an "I liked it 100%" from me, but I enjoyed it a lot and I want to see this dev team make more games. This is the sort of game that you can even play with your children and it has the feel of a children story book with cut-outs and lovely characters.

Cute, whimsical, and weird. The messy, scrapbook visuals are a delight and I adore the overall tone of the adventure, but the game is mostly style over substance. We got a little bored after just a few hours. Gameplay starts slow and the mechanics it eventually gains aren’t the most interesting ideas. Music seemed to be missing from plenty of scenes. The absence of voice acting can be felt pretty hard here too. Long strings of silence as both players read the on screen text is a vibe that just doesn't fit a co-op game. Maybe adding voices would've also further emphasized the game's fun Britishisms as well. Either way, the time we did spend with the game was an entertaining co-op romp.

If you are looking for a game to scratch that Psychonauts itch, look no farther than Knights and Bikes.
This is a 1-2 player game where you are on a quest to find the lost treasure of a group of knights long ago before you have to move off the island. If you were looking for something more grandiose.... Look somewhere else.
The graphics for this title and nothing outlandish and in most cases look two dimensional. Each character is unique and highly detailed for the simplistic art style. The imagination portions are drawn out like the memory fragments in Psychonauts.
The sounds of the game are a mix between simplistic and old school rock. Certain areas are extremely LOUD by design but not annoying. The games charm is in the merger of storylines leaving you to imagine certain characters voices. Trust me. After an hour or so, you will be hearing them talking in your head......
One thing to note is that this is a short game. It was not designed to last 10+ hours (Unless you want every achievement). Fortunately, it is not prices high and is a great calm actiony game when looking for something to play in between the bigger titles.
Definitely worth a purchase.... So hop on your trusty bicycle steed and give this game a go!

Game is good, like the way it is drawn. Sometimes felt lack of some pointers or other info and had to spend time trying to get where to do and what to do, but the game is still good)
