If there were another me,
Observing myself from the perspective of a spectator,
How would I regard another me?
How would I get along with the other me?
I and Me is a puzzle platformer. To play the game, you control two cats simultaneously. The two characters will perform exactly the same action. You need to manage both of them at the same time and let them coordinate to complete the adventure. The game has four chapters based on four seasons with a total of 90 levels. Sometimes you must think carefully, and in some places you need to be flexible. The soundtrack of the game is soothing with orchestra and piano music, each season has its own style.

I and Me is a puzzle platformer with around 90 levels spread over 4 chapters. You control two cute animals to get them to the ‘exit’ at the same time. It takes a bit of getting used to controlling two characters with one stick. The game also leans more on the puzzle side, the platforming is fairly basic. There are 20 notes to find and there are messages between every level focused on loneliness.
When it comes to the good stuff, the music is the absolute highlight. It’s very soothing and impactful, I’ve had moments where I stopped playing just to enjoy the music briefly. The graphics have some charm in motion, especially the animals or moving effects related to the weather. The controls are fine with a controller and most of the puzzles had the right balance (there is a hint system too). I didn’t encounter any bugs. The achievements were good, they are mostly doing all the levels, finding all the notes and two level exclusive achievements that are doable. I also appreciate that you are shown which level has a note which is convenient.
When it comes to the cons, I can mostly think of two. The messages and the notes don’t flow well in English. A lot of what’s being said is repeated with little difference. It feels like the nuance is lost in the translation. While the graphics can be charming, the assets feel copy pasted too often. This makes the levels look too similar and make the game feel cheaper than it should.
It’s not a bad game, I enjoyed the gameplay a bit. But it didn’t grab me, I can’t really say it needs to be played by others. Like it’s missing something. It’s a fine game to play in between or to fill a gap with for puzzle platformer fans. The normal price of €10 feels slightly expensive for what it offers, it’s better to get it on sale. It took me 4.5 hours to complete the game and get all the achievements.

Puzzles. They mix with me like oil and fire. Not at all.
