The game is absolutely fantastic. Its relatively easy to get a handle on at first, but there is lots of depth to the ship design and organizing your empire while dealing with natural and unnatural threats. It is just complex enough to be engaging but not so much to be overwhelming. If you like 4X games or are wanting on introduction, this game isn't a bad start.

I like what I see of Hard Void so far. If you're a fan of classic 4x games it'd be worth checking out. Combat is interesting seeing the battle play out between your ships and the enemies. It's a little clunky though. Maybe I've missed it, but seeing a summary of component requirements on the ship design screen would help a lot. I like exploring planets, and seeing their habitability and resources, but they get a little samey after a while. It'd help if there was an easier way to tell what planets would be worth checking out instead of investigating everything. I can't wait to see what the finished game is like.

I really recommend checking out HARD VOID to anyone who has enjoyed space 4X games like Master of Orion or Stellaris. It's a masterpiece of emergent complexity, retro vibes and fun. You will feel like you are back in the golden age of 4X with this game. Not only do you have to deal with an aggressive alien neighbor, but cosmic horrors are also lurking, and the game is much deeper than it seems at first glance...
The design philosophy behind the game is also worth noting. This game is old school not only in execution, but in thought as well, with the developer having made this entire thing in C, with a custom engine and very few external libraries. It is a big feat of engineering from that point of view as well.
To sum it up, even in its current early access state, there is a lot of replayability and fun to be had with HARD VOID. It will certainly appeal to players looking for something that goes back to the roots of the genre, but breaks conventions and established tropes at the same time, to bring something completely original, yet very familiar to games such as Master of Orion 1 and 2.

Enjoying my time so far.
What we have here is a vision from a unique mind. This isn't your fratbros video game. This is a gamers video game. You will learn mechanics, you will need to think, you will actually use strategy.
I'm a bit bored with run of the mill games myself.
If you are too, this one is worth a try. Is it AAA graphics? No. Obviously not, but if that sort of thing holds you back from good gaming experiences, than i feel sorry. I'll be looking in on this game regularly and supporting it's development. I recommend you do as well!

Game is absolutely a win in terms of style, presentation and music - omg the music really sells the lovecraftian scifi aesthetic. Gameplay-wise there's still a lot for me to get into, but as far the depth of the unit design and planetary management systems go, I see a lot of potential.
This one is a strong recommendation if you're into 4x and experimental games.
