It claims it's inspired by Rollcage. Yes, it had flippable cars and a very fast gameplay and a futuristic design, but I remember having more fun with Rollcage. Maybe that's because I was younger and racing like this seemed cool and these days I prefer more realistic style of racing. However the game is technically on a very high level, very good looking able to run on a potato and it even supports VR, so I can't give it a negative grade. It does what it says on the tin and that's good.

A wonderful successor to the game of your childhood, made by the same team that did Rollcage/Rollcage Stage 2. Don't miss a chance to visit your parent's old house!
Oh, and hug them as long as you're there.

Grip: Combat Racing (2018)
For those of you that can remember the legendary Rollcage game, this is the closest game you will ever find that is like that. While I still prefer Rollcage over Grip, Grip is in no way a bad game. Its an excellent game with high speed action racing. You can pick up power ups to give yourself a shield is an enemy is shooting at you to protect yourself, missiles to shoot enemies with or the machine gun you can use to mow down anybody in your path. They have a few game modes to play, classic races, parkour mode, they have a campaign you can partake in. For multiplayer you need to find some organised groups as the multiplayer doesn't see much action these days. My only complain is that the game basically forces you take a car with grip so you don't fly off into space over and over, and you are going to fly off the map - a lot. If you love racing games with great combat at neck breaking speeds give this one a go.
7/10

You can put your own mp3s in to race to!

Works really well in VR, but also great on a flat screen.

Excellent combat racing game with high speed and high stakes. You drive an enormous car-tank-thing that can flip upside-down, drive on ceilings and go supersonic with the right racing lines. The easy maps are great fun, the medium difficulty maps are a nice challenge, and the hard maps are TORTURE. Part of the reason for this is that the handling of your car-tank-thing is very delicate: once you're going at high speed any small bump will send you to the stratosphere and not being careful with steering will cause you to wobble uncontrollably. You have to learn to tap the handbrake even in situations where it seems going full speed might work, especially on the hard maps (special mention to Acrophobia and Thermophobia for having segments with long airborne tracks with no guard rails where going slightly too fast or steering slightly too much is a guaranteed crash, often sending you to the back of the pack). On the flipside, getting the hang of the precarious handling and learning to play thoughtfully is very rewarding.
The powerups are fun and varied and most weapons have a bit of counterplay to them (braking will counteract some of the force applied to you, and you can powerslide and even do a half-backflip to get back to the right heading while keeping some speed), but there is a powerup you can get when you're behind that slows time for everyone in front of you, which is extremely debilitating when used against a human player as they lose all sense of momentum and get blinded by the visuals.
The game is very pretty and runs smooth, and gets bonus boints for the banging DnB soundtrack. The race tracks are amazing and even the ones that don't feature some gameplay twist (like turrets targeting the racers or that one map with the huge radar dish that breaks apart and starts rolling down the track) are still memorable just for their track layout and appearance.
