When he awakes in an old abandoned asylum, his sole memory is the attempted rescue of a teenage girl with a bomb strapped to her chest. Everything else is blank. With a strange technology fused to his head – used to read and replay human memory – Black travels into the depths of his own mind. To find the truth of his past. To find the truth of what happened. And to answer two very simple questions:‘Why were you there?’ and, ‘Who was the girl?’

This is a very unique game with incredible storytelling at its core. The narrative and characters are so strong that they often make up for the weaker aspects of gameplay. That said, it feels counterintuitive to design a shooter that penalizes the player for actually shooting. The level design, puzzles, and music are fantastic, all contributing to a deeply immersive atmosphere. The opening sequence, in particular, is one of the best I’ve ever experienced it immediately builds tension and anxiety, and if that was the developers’ intention, they absolutely nailed it. The game also features multiple endings, with the “Darker Path” being my personal favourite since it reveals so much about the protagonist’s backstory and motivations. Unfortunately, the controls can feel awkward. The cornergun is an intriguing concept, but using it often made me dizzy, forcing me to take breaks. The AI is equally inconsistent sometimes enemies can snipe you with pinpoint accuracy from across the map, while other times they fail to notice you standing right in front of them. What really keeps me hooked, though, is the lore. The world is packed with secrets and hidden details that reward curiosity. If you’ve enjoyed narrative driven games, this will likely resonate with you as well. Special credit must go to the sound designers and composers the soundtrack is hauntingly memorable, and I still keep several tracks in my personal playlist. Overall, while the gameplay has flaws, the atmosphere, story, and presentation make this a truly memorable experience. In fact, I think the concept has so much potential that it could translate into a phenomenal film one day.

Get Even is a psychological horror experience that strongly reminded me of the movie called Session 9, particularly in its unsettling atmosphere and slow burning sense of unease. Fans of psychological horror will likely find a lot to appreciate here, even if the game doesn’t fully land for everyone.
The opening hours are especially strong, establishing a tense and immersive atmosphere while effectively blending psychological horror with subtle sci-fi elements. One of the game’s strengths is its ability to keep the player disoriented, constantly questioning what is happening and pushing forward in search of answers. However, as the game progresses, the pacing begins to falter. Toward the final stretch, I personally found the experience less engaging, with a growing sense of wanting the story to conclude rather than unfold further. This may come down to personal taste, but the late-game momentum doesn’t quite match the strength of its introduction.
That said, for a title developed by an indie studio, Get Even is an impressive and ambitious project. While it may not appeal to everyone, it offers a thoughtful and atmospheric take on psychological horror that is worth considering for fans of the genre.

This is part walking simulator, part not-so-great shooter.
What the game excels at is its story that's some crazy, sometimes convoluted dive through memories that's basically if Shakespeare wrote Inception, searching for answers so folks can "get even."
The gameplay isn't all that great, but I was always looking forward to finding out what happens next, and the music is great at building up the atmosphere and tone of each scene. Voice acting is wonderful as well.
And you just might be left saying "the party, the party" over and over.
Not a great game, but certainly enjoyable.

Pros:
- Music and sound design are excellent
- Shooting will not blow your socks off, but is competent enough
- Story is good and ties nicely together...
Cons:
- ...but it is too simple when compared to how convolutedly it is told
- The game gives you a cool gun, tells you how to use it, then tells you to NOT use it...
- ...and use a poorly designed stealth system instead
- Puzzles are few, far between and not very good, it's like the game is not sure what it wants to be
Not commenting on horror elements, because I'm not a fan of the genre, I just sometimes bear with it just for a good story.
Overall, this game is a mixed bag for me. But as there is no such thing as mixed review, I go with positive, because I managed to make it enjoyable. Here's my recipe: 1 easy difficulty, pinch of puzzle walkthroughs to not get annoyed, 1-3 bullets in the face per enemy for spice, serve with the other ending on a video website. I'd say it's worth it on sale, but I'm a penny pincher.

Love the twists and turns of the storyline. Worth it to get the end and the reveal.

I have mixed feelings of this game. Gameplay is mediocre. Interesting ideas and mechanics but not polished. Story is slow at begining but towards the end it ramps up and it´s best part of this game. I quite enjoyed it. The game is more of thriller than a horror though. Level design is good and graphics are okey as well. I would recommend it on sale but only if you are into thriller/mind ♥♥♥ games.

I enjoyed this game a lot. The story had me invested in it completely. The investigation aspect was a little disappointing as all we have to do was view and collect evidence. The concept of simulation within simulation within simulation was mind-blowing to be honest. The best part about the game? Its music and atmosphere. The music is really good and very designed. Its a good game and you won't regret buying it. 100% recommended from my side.
