Short review - a Brutal Lemmings clone~
I normally write longer reviews but i keep it short for this one.
Wile Flockers is sure "not" an original idea and ones you touched it, you sure will notice how similar it "kinda" plays to Lemmings, let us be honest for a second.
Nowadays, if you bring out a game idea which is kinda fresh, the marked WILL be flood in just some MONTHS with the same kind of games. Look at "Royal" games. Look at "Surviver" games. Look at "im totally not Lethal Company" games. Look at "liars bar" Games.
Sure, the list goes on and on.
Looking back at Flockers now, back as it came out, people basically tried to kill it because it was "not original". ...so?
I mean, again, whats so bad about it? Flockers is still a great Lemmings clone and if you think about WHEN did we get a NEW and FRESH Lemmings game at the time Flockers came out OR even up to this date? No, this mobile-sheat doesnt count.
Srsly, Sony (which are the copyright holders of the Lemmings Brand right now), Up to this day there is not even ONE. THING. in your PSN store about Lemmings. It could be so EASY just to add the classic PS1 Version to the Classic-market or even the PS2 version OR just re-release it for todays generation for the PS5...
Srsly Sony, next year is Lemmings 35th Aniversary. Your. Move.
Back to Flockers, As i said, if you enjoy(ed) Lemmings and the series as whole, give Flockers at least a try. Its really fun, if not hard at times to play.

Flockers is a puzzle-strategy game developed and published by Team17 Digital Ltd., a studio famous for creating inventive and often humorous experiences. While the game draws inspiration from classic flock-management puzzle titles, it establishes its own identity through a darkly comedic setting, elaborate death traps, and a surprisingly deep collection of mechanics. Rather than leading cheerful creatures through colorful landscapes, players guide a group of sheep attempting to escape a brutal industrial regime where almost every machine, platform, and corridor seems designed to end their journey in spectacular fashion.
The gameplay revolves around escorting sheep safely through hazardous levels by assigning special abilities and carefully planning their routes. Each stage presents a self-contained puzzle packed with moving machinery, crushing devices, spinning blades, explosives, and environmental hazards. Success requires observation, experimentation, and an understanding of how different abilities interact with the environment. As new mechanics are introduced, the challenges become increasingly intricate, forcing players to think several steps ahead. The game manages to capture the spirit of classic puzzle-solving while modernizing the formula with physics-based interactions and more dynamic level construction.
One of Flockers' greatest strengths is its level design. The campaign gradually introduces new concepts, ensuring that players learn the rules naturally before being asked to solve more demanding challenges. Early levels encourage experimentation, while later stages require precision and strategic planning. The progression feels rewarding because each new obstacle adds another layer of complexity without overwhelming the player immediately. Hidden objectives, collectible items, and optional challenges further enhance replay value, giving completionists plenty of reasons to revisit earlier stages.
The visual presentation effectively supports the game's unusual tone. Industrial factories, grim workshops, and mechanical deathtraps dominate the environments, creating a world that feels both hostile and strangely entertaining. Despite the dark premise, the art style remains colorful and cartoon-like, preventing the atmosphere from becoming excessively grim. The exaggerated animations and humorous reactions of the sheep help maintain a playful tone even when disaster strikes. This contrast between adorable animals and absurdly dangerous machinery becomes one of the game's defining characteristics.
Customization and progression systems add extra motivation beyond simply completing levels. Players can unlock various cosmetic appearances for their sheep, ranging from quirky costumes to bizarre themed designs. These rewards do not alter gameplay, but they provide a fun sense of accomplishment and encourage exploration. Combined with achievements and collectibles, the unlockable content helps extend the game's longevity and gives dedicated players additional goals to pursue.
Another noteworthy aspect is the game's willingness to embrace failure as a learning tool. Many puzzles require repeated attempts before a successful solution becomes apparent. Fortunately, quick restarts and responsive controls minimize frustration, allowing experimentation to remain enjoyable. Watching plans fail often provides valuable information for future attempts, creating a satisfying cycle of learning and improvement. This design philosophy ensures that even difficult stages rarely feel unfair.
The audio design complements the experience well. Mechanical sounds, environmental effects, and fitting background music help reinforce the industrial atmosphere. The soundtrack remains subtle enough not to distract from puzzle-solving while still contributing to the overall mood. Combined with the visual style, the audio helps create a world that feels alive despite its relentless hostility toward the flock.
Flockers is not without flaws. Some late-game puzzles can become exceptionally challenging, occasionally relying on solutions that may not be immediately obvious. Certain players may also find the trial-and-error approach repetitive during extended sessions. Additionally, while the game introduces a respectable variety of mechanics, its core structure remains firmly rooted in the classic puzzle formula that inspired it. Those seeking a narrative-heavy experience or dramatic gameplay evolution may find the experience somewhat limited.
Even with these shortcomings, Flockers stands out as a clever and entertaining puzzle game that successfully modernizes a beloved genre. Its combination of challenging level design, dark humor, creative hazards, and rewarding progression creates an experience that remains engaging from beginning to end. Team17 delivers a distinctive adventure that balances strategy, experimentation, and comedy with impressive confidence. For players who enjoy thoughtful puzzles and don't mind sacrificing a few sheep along the way, Flockers offers a memorable journey filled with challenge, creativity, and plenty of laughs.

Modern lemmings-like, much more advanced, yet easy to learn.
Still nice to play 10 years later.
For patient players.

it's like lemmings but with cute cuddly little sheeps that are mercilessly butchered and exploded and smooshed and squished. Full marks. Fun for the whole family.
