This game has flaws, and nothing is perfect.
Lets be honest though, really honest.
When it comes to competitive space shooters, the newtonian model is horrendous, that makes the list of games in this ones genre fairly small these days, ED and SC are good at what they do, but they're not combat games.
This one.
This one captures the essence of those late 90s Space Shooters, the FreeSpaces, the XvTs, and combines it with Overwatch style team meta mechanics.
If you want to compete in space, this is where you do it.
Few comments:
MTX complaints are stupid, they have about as much effect on game play as Overwatches.
The VR crowd have a very slight advantage, if you learn to use your radar it's almost insignificant.
If you're not good at this game, it's your own fault, the best pilots in the world, were terrible at it at some point, I watched them all go from rookies to rulers. Dust yourself off, and get back out there.
The concurrent player count is always higher than the steam stats, because this includes PSVR and PS4 and Oculus Rift pilots, they all fly in the same space.

It's a great dog fighting game. However it is made to be played with a controller of some sorts. I wouldn't recommend playing with a keyboard and mouse.
This game does take a bit of getting used to but once you get used to it, it's an overall fun game to hunt down your enemy and blap them in the face. Valkyrie has a good selection of drones. All with their own learning curve, along with learning how to pilot the drones. The ship tree adds a nice touch allowing you upgrade your ship with exp that you get from matches. Be warned most upgrades come at a cost to something, let that be less shield but more rate of fire.
Loot boxes are a nice touch, really no pay to win aspect, other then getting some implants to boost your exp gain in order to upgrade the ships further fast then getting exp from a match.
The map selection and overall game modes are fun. You get put into a lobby and the game mode that you grt each time is different then before. Games can range from 5 minutes to bed 10 minutes depending if you are playing extraction or carrier attack.
All in all I would recommend this game. Just remember that it's not really keyboard and mouse friendly, it is possible but I would recommend a x box controller or really any controller.

Great in VR (on the Vive) and can use multiple joysticks with ease. It recognizes all of my CH Products joysticks, throttle, and pedals.
One drawback is that the flight model is pretty simplified, you don't have six degrees of freedom, and you can't even really control your thrust, you're just always going forward and you can boost and brake. But it makes for a lot of fun, fast battles.
EDIT: Steamcharts shows very little players online at a time, which is true. But it's also important to realize that this is cross-platform including Oculus Rift and PS4. I've had it for about a week so far and haven't had a problem finding a match with at least one other player (the lobbies get filled in with bots, which are pretty decent anyway). Most of the time there's at least 4-5 players in a match at a time. I've mostly played on the weekend and evenings Pacific time so far.

Edit 5/5/2019: Added a gameplay video.
I expected better from CCP...
There's good things in EVE: Valkyrie Warzone but also bad things.
The graphics are great, art direction is really good with fantastic space landscapes.
The game offer a good variety in ships selection, there's also a lot of maps which provides great design.
In VR it was a fantastic experience few years ago, it's ok on flat screen too but there's not that whoaah effect.
Before Warzone i also played the original EVE: Valkyrie for like 10 hours, so with this one i have almost 50 hours of playtime in both vr and flat screen.
There is two main problems with EVE: Valkyrie:
1. The gameplay is way too slow for me, there is no real sense of speed, compared to a fast paced game like Strike Vector, it's a letdown.
2. The controls are also too slow, no matter what settings you choose, even at the highest mouse sensitivity it will recquire at least 2 or 3 complete turns with your mouse to do a 360°.
That leads to frustration, chasing your ennemies endlessly in a retarded way.
Anyway as of 30/4/2019 it's still a great game for VR, but i can't recommand it to non-vr players (or get it on sale).
Such a shame CCP abandoned the game long ago because it failed commercialy.
At the time writing this review there was only one afk player online who was farming xp.
So yeah sad but true it's almost completely dead online.
It's still possible to play vs bots but really not interesting tbh.
EVE: Valkyrie could have been a fantastic game, in the end it's just an ok game, too bad CCP had to let it die.

This is my favorite game for the most part. I just really wish it had a really epic campaign mode based off the eve online story. I really could see this game having a epic campaign mode. The makers have to make a epic campaign mode. Please makers if you read this, make a really good campaign.

As a long time EVE player, obviously this is nothing like EVE in a gameplay sense. What it is: what I imagine every dogfight my fighters have when they are launched from my carrier.
This game is not super deep; there are no space politics here, no massive campaign, etc.. You log in, fly in super fast, frenetic, dogfights and log out. I like the new customization options/trees for each shift, the plethora of skins, and the simple PVE modes for when you want a fix of the awesome combat with no strings attached. Ship customizations are definitely a huge step up from what I played in the past.
I look forward to seeing what else comes in the future; for the price, you just can't go wrong here because it feels so good and it's casual and just plain fun. But don't expect a ton: I didn't, and now I can't put it down. It's just really fun space combat and it runs and looks glorious. Believe me: I can't wait for Star Citizen and I play Elite Dangerous. But sometimes, I just want COD in space. This is it and for cheap.

Runs well, nice dogfighting action, no invasive microtransactions, free access to any new expansions released and all set in the EVE Online universes with more possible ties noted in the future.
