Dungeon Maker
Dungeon Maker is a multiplayer application/game to bring your tabletop fantasy role-playing online. Dungeon Maker is designed to work best with the Dungeons and Dragons 5e ruleset, though no content from DnD is included with the game.
With Dungeon Maker you can design Characters, Enemies, and NPCs, and set their portraits which will be shared to all players in the game.
Dungeon masters can use the Campaign Designer to create a world map for your campaign, and host this campaign to any players without having to have players download the maps.
A continually evolving and robust Map Maker will let you create encounters and areas for your players to explore. These maps and encounters are hosted purely by the Dungeon master, so anyone can join without downloading the campaign.
Campaigns are hosted over the internet using Steamworks, by IP, or by LAN. Let your play group join you from anywhere. Steamworks provides easy to use multiplayer with player invites, and simple connections to anyone in your friends list. If you want to go the IP route a video tutorial for multiplayer by IP can be found on the Tavarin Games YouTube channel:
https://youtu.be/K9v_OOVSVRo
Players can see the world, interact with NPCs and enemies, and roleplay to their heart’s content.
Dungeon Masters can switch between maps and encounters, control enemies and NPCs, move players, and control the game.

So, this is a 50/50 split for me. but I'm leaning positive.
I like the art direction because it does feel like a classic RPG pallet, especially on the main menu and UI, though I wish there was a little extra put into it. The in game polish is very low because the assets are pretty rough and the tiles can be harsh to look at and I wish the dev spent a little longer making the visuals better by adding some variance between tiles and smoothing out lines between the floors/walls. I know this has a simple art direction, but there are tons of low res art styles that do bring a lot of polish that I feel like this game could have. The forests do feel much better to look at, so I can't say it's all rough. Not to mention, this has a pretty robust random map generator. Very useful for a GM, no doubt. With a little effort by the GM, you *could* add your own assets, bypassing this issue all together. That depends on your own skillset and time, of course.
This is more of a personal gripe, but I dislike how many RPG tools like this default to 5e D&D. I know it's by and far the most popular ruleset and it only makes sense to make it the "default" but there are so many other RPGs out there that deserve to be played with tools like this. Savage Worlds, World of Darkness, even other editions of D&D are some of my favorite games and so very few tools come with system agnostic tools to build it myself, and this is sadly no different.
I would mention that there are other tools that do this sort of thing better, and there are, in my opinion, but the ease of use, despite being a little clunky at first, and low bar of entry for software like this is not a common quality for the price tag.
On the other hand, I do like how this game is set up to share assets between the host and players. That is something you don't see very often in online RPG tool suites outside of paid subscription models. So, huge dub for this game on that.
If you primarily play 5e D&D, and you've never tried any tools like this before, I'd say this is a decent place to start. It has all the tools you'll need to run a game of 5e right there in the program. If you have the time to prepare a campaign, this has everything you'll need to make and run a really cool game yourself.
But if you're like me, and you were hoping for a agnostic toolset that works best with 5e, this does not have that. It is STRICTLY for 5e unless you ignore the character/NPC/Monster building tools, which is half the reason I would want something like this in the first place.
For Brian De La Franier, I really want to like this, and I do, despite my hang-ups.
I want to see what you can do with this kind of game but with more to it beyond 5e D&D. The scope of this project is much too narrow for me, but I can absolutely recommend it to someone who is trying out 5e for the first time. I hope you try your hand at RPG tools again, because if I could get my hands on your software with some more features like I mentioned above and more, I'd be all over this. That's a promise.
TLDR pros/cons:
- is visually simple, to a fault at times. You get out what you are willing to put into it.
- Offers great sharing potential between host and players but everyone needs to own a copy.
- All tools are only compatible with 5e D&D but it does that really well.

at first it was tricky to use but after you understand the tools in the game it is a wonderful way to illustrate a combat encounter on a budget. Its simplicity allows for the imagination to still run wild. wonderful tool

This is a very open ended utility program, you can literally design a world and all its characters from scratch... you'll spend hours making a world from scratch and even blueprints to make it faster, this is perfect for those who have a group of friends that you want to share a story with if you have the time and energy to draw it out. I'd say its a very easy version of RPG maker meets 5E... I've spent all I've 5mins goofing with it, but from the little time I've spent and the massive amount of DM'ing I do... I can see the use for this program and hope its community grows.
