"A fun and addictive tower defense RPG with a lot of heart!"
Dungeon Defenders II is a fantastic blend of tower defense strategy and RPG elements. Whether you’re playing solo or with friends, it offers hours of fun and challenging gameplay. The colorful, cartoonish art style makes it visually appealing, and the variety of heroes and towers allows you to approach each level in multiple ways.
The core mechanics are simple but rewarding—build defenses, defeat waves of enemies, and protect your crystal. However, the game adds layers of complexity with character progression, loot collection, and the ability to level up and upgrade your heroes and towers. It’s this RPG-like progression that keeps you coming back for more.
One of the standout features of Dungeon Defenders II is its cooperative multiplayer mode. The ability to team up with friends or random players to tackle tougher challenges makes it feel like a truly collaborative experience. The teamwork required to defend against the waves of enemies is a lot of fun and fosters a sense of camaraderie.
That being said, the game’s grind can get a little repetitive at times, especially when you’re trying to farm for the best loot or level up your heroes. The free-to-play model also means there are microtransactions, though they don't feel as intrusive as in some other games.
Overall, Dungeon Defenders II is a blast to play, especially with friends. It combines the best elements of tower defense and RPGs into a highly enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for a game with strategy, teamwork, and a lot of loot, this one’s definitely worth checking out!

Dungeon Defenders II is a vibrant mix of tower defense and action RPG that’s perfect for solo or co-op play. The colorful art style and creative hero designs make it fun to explore and strategize. Each hero brings unique abilities, so experimenting with different combinations keeps the gameplay fresh. The mix of building defenses and diving into the action yourself is both engaging and rewarding.
However, the game has its downsides. The progression system can feel grindy, especially if you’re chasing specific upgrades. Microtransactions for cosmetics and other content are noticeable, which might be a turn-off for some players.
Despite these issues, Dungeon Defenders II is a great pick for those who enjoy strategic combat with a dash of teamwork. It’s easy to lose track of time as you fend off waves of enemies and perfect your defenses. If you’re into tower defense games with a bit more action, this one’s worth a shot.

It's a more modern take on DD1 (the first game in the series). A tower defence game where you have a Build Phase to plan & place your defences using a dozen Heroes (with mostly unique towers and abilities) then use those same heroes to fight alongside your towers during the Combat Phase. Grab loot afterwards to upgrade your towers / hero and repeat.
It's a free to play game where you can earn (grind) everything in the game except for some cosmetics. The grind is kinda long but not too bad. It's about a week to earn enough to buy a new Hero. 100% pay to skip at worst, no pay to win. You can also trade with other players using ingame currency (like most F2P games, there are multiple currencies, somewhat predatory "premium" currency packs/etc but it's never too egregious) BUT the grind can get quite arduous in 'end-game'.
That said, while other games, you have this '30 seconds of fun' that's looped? Here it's a 'plan and build', fight alongside your defences, collect your rewards then gear up for the next run. It's a '20 minutes of fun' that's looped.
If you like a tower defence game with very strong RPG elements and lots of action, complete with a stable of very unique heroes (flying witch? woodsy dryad? studious mage? spiritual monk? noble knight? sinister necro? and much more)

The game is server-hosted. This prevents almost all hacking but means you can suffer from lag

Feels a bit grindier than Dungeon Defenders, but then again that's expected given the free to buy model they went with.
At the end of the day it's still a Dungeon Defenders game, and quite frankly it's the type of hack and slash loot explosion tower defense game that just hits different.
I've been scouring Steam Discovery Queues for years trying to find a tower defense game that really compares to this. Every 18 months or so I continue to fail to find it and just fire up this game or Dungeon Defenders when I need my "fix".
If you happen to know of a game like this, hit me up in the comments because I'm 100% interested.

Good game if you enjoy the grind. $40-60 that's what you'll need to get all the QoL+Season Pass. P.S. Don't buyout bag and vault slots until you've gotten the free ones first.
