If you liked dragon's dogma 1 you will just love this one. Don't care about MTX but performance issue indeed needs to be addressed. Awesome game with one of the best combat mechanics.

I bought this and Horizon Forbidden West, both games are flawed and got released at same time so I have a hard time choosing which I will dedicate my soul for the weekend.
Horizon has nicer graphics and overall more cinematic story, but repeatable gameplay ends up a chore over time, DD2 however has rather average graphics and definitely not as cinematic, but the gameplay is just damn great, and yeah I have like 58 fps on 5800x3D(undervolted, on average faster than vanilla) and that's a CPU limitation, hope it will improve, Capcom at least acknowledged it in opposite to the awful indie game dev that released Starfield, but it's smooth enough to enjoy it.
As for microtransactions, dunno, didn't had any use for it so far, through I'm really early on due to trying two games at the same time.
Avoid if your CPU is trash and outdated doesn't matter how much you paid for GPU.
If you have a very fast, prefferably latest gen or not older than previous gen CPU get it, it's really cool game with great gameplay loop.
Edit after ~45h in-game:
DAMN it's insane how fun the gameplay is, it's clear GOTY!
For haters - the monetization is just like in RE games, aka nothing you can't obtain by just playing, nothing is hidden behind paywall, in fact just like with RE games, you'd have to be an idiot to pay for those things. This isn't a sandbox game with cool story that makes you want to skip every travel time and every fight to continue to another cinematic clip, nah, this game's opposite, you're leaving the city on an adventure to hunt as many large monsters as possible, I cheated port stones due them being rare early on and ended up not teleporting anyway since the actual fights are what's make you spend time in-game and there's also a ton of stuff hidden making you want to explore and look up closely every ledge and shadow in case there's a cave or dungeon or just some item.
Optimization - yeah you need best CPU you can get to play this and not cry about awful framerate, but it's worth it, it's a single player game where AI companions often behave like humans, but free of rage/afk and other fun-ruining behaviours. If you can do something, your companions can too, and they learn with how many monsters you kill with them, with how many chests you open etc. I literally hear from someone elses pawn compliments like "wow, my master missed that" or "I know a chest nearby", they even help you out when something is placed too high to reach, a fighter pawn with proper skill can boost you from their shield high into air, or when you kill some monsters you and one of your pawns high five. People say it's awful optimization and maybe it could be coded in more efficient way, but really that processing power doesn't go to waste, modern RPG's tend to kill interactions and have NPC's just stand there like in some cheap MMO, this game's doing opposite and adds a lot of interactions normal games doesn't have.
