try the Enhanced Edition

Enhanced Edition is definitely the better way to play this, but there's a lot of merit in this version of the game too! It has a lot of differences - skill system was entirely reworked, encounters are different, stats are different, loot drops are different... it's almost an entirely different game, but still clearly the same core foundation. Multiplayer is a lot buggier in this version and the game in general is less polished, so I would not recommend this as your first entry into the series.
If you've played Original Sin 2 and Original Sin Enhanced Edition, it might be worth checking this out if you still want more. It's the same game, and yet completely different.

I had the enhanced edition of the game, but for some dumb reason I convinced myself to play this and then the enhanced edition later as well since this was already in my library... Great game, but don't be like me and go play the enhanced edition instead!

So back in 2014 this game came out and I was stoked to finally play a CRPG. After playing for a week I said this game was straight trash and was waaaaaay to hard. 2023 I decided to give this another try and oohhh boy did I let an epic game pass by. I had to relearn how to play from the just point and click behavior imparted from games like diablo. I didn't realize that the place you were in was just the FIRST LEVEL with multiple ways of gaining exp and tons off quest to do just In the first map in Cyseal. The ability to pick up anything and use it for crafting,upgrading armor, or make cool arrows. The way to play this game is taking your time and experiment or use a strategy guide lol! Either way this is probably in my top 5 of western rpgs next to Dragon Age. Any one who wants to try this game don't be ashamed to use a strategy guide you'd be like me and miss out on a great rpg.
