So, Crayola Scoot. Developed by Climax Games and published by Outright Games, I would not blame you if you looked at this game and thought it as a Splatoon/Tony Hawk/ Skate ripoff. I agree that this game is basically like those games combined, and with a license by Crayola of all people, it definitely got under the radar. However, should this 2018 release go above that radar? Let's find out.
Story: From what I gathered, you are just some kid competing in the Crayola Color Cup and have competitions to do so. Not really a plot heavy game.
Gameplay: As was stated, this is basically a clone of Splatoon if it had the gameplay of Tony Hawk or Skate. That is because of the paint mechanics and the ability to do tricks with the right stick. That part brings in the Skate gameplay. However, there are more modes than you think. There is Color Frenzy, which is Turf War but a free for all (funnily enough there is also a team version), Trick Run for points, a Tag mode where you either survive or tag, and Crazy Crayons where you race to get some Crayola Crayons. Each mode is simple to understand and you won't be confused by it. In game, you can do things like tricks and grinds obviously, but there is also a boost. If you have the meter to do so, you can boost for some extra speed, even when grinding. Neat. It also acts as a manual in Tony Hawk as it extends combos. This actually brings some pretty addicting gameplay that is funner than you may think. All these can be played in multiplayer though..... offline only, but we'll get to that. Overall, the gameplay is pretty neat.
Graphics and Presentation: This game does feature a cel shaded art style that I think makes the game bright and colorful, as it needs. Everything pops out and looks pretty neat. Characters are detailed and have some nice touches like unique animations when starting. I likey. The game is also in 60FPS, but with PC games, the FPS also is based on your PC itself, and for the most part it ran fine. Then again, I do have an i5 processor so........ yeah.
Sound and Soundtrack: In this game, sounds are neat. You get some gooey paint sounds when painting (that sounded wrong) and the characters are even fully voiced..... outside of cutscenes. See,you will do challenges against characters in a game of S-C-O-O-T, which is not a normal game mode for the campaign. In them, the characters will speak to you, but text only. Weird since they already have the voices, and they do sound good, so what gives? Also, I swear, one of the voices is exactly the same as the robot voice in the Worms games. The OST however, despite being upbeat and me remembering some parts, is just mostly forgettable. It's not all bad, and it fits well, but it's not as good as you'd expect from the same devs as SpongeBob SupperSponge (that game had a great OST).
Replayability: Now the gloves are off and I'm now using toasters! This game should take around 4 hours to beat, at least for me, including the hidden challenger. That is not too short, but also not long, Finishing every event should add some time, and 100% would get up to 5, maybe 6 hours. That is average, but after that, what else? Well, you can play the Arcade Mode, which lets you pick any character and game mode, including S-C-O-O-T, and a brand new mode which lets you mess around in any stage. However, and I teased this earlier in the review, but there is no online. Why? Was there not enough money or something? It's just baffling, and this would be really fun online. That heavily damages your replay value and I don't like that. If this game had online, there would be more replay value, but alas, you have to use external programs like Parsec to play online. What a shame.
Final Thoughts: So after all that, what does this game get? Please note that blah blah etc etc you know. So after my experiences with crayola Scoot, I think the game deserves a 7/10 with a "So Close" sticker. It is a really good game I'd say, but the lack of online and the fact that sometimes the controls won't always work (Ex: Sometimes I want to grind, but it just won't) just hold it back. Another note is that this game is 39.99. That is actually pretty cheap today, but some might not wanna get this game with a price like that without online. I would recommend this game, but mainly for a sale like how I got it. Unless you really think the game is worth full price, in which case, knock yourself out. This game is also for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and XBOX ONE if you wanna know.
Extra Note for PC users: For the PC version of this game, you HAVE to use a controller. It says on the Steam page, but I just wanted to remind you since that is kinda important. Now, chances are that you already have a compatible controller or a connector to use one, but if you don't, you might have to indirectly spend some extra money on a controller (I'd recommend XBOX since my PS4 controllers kept disconnecting and the Switch Pro Controller had B and A swapped because it's mapping XBOX's A to the Switch Pro Controller's B and vice versa).

This game is awesome!! I bought it for my 3 year old as every game I bought for her was had too complicated a menu system or controls were difficult and she just lost interest super fast. This is perfect for her and she loves it. Every other game she cries because she can't figure it out, or gets stuck and needs my help. Crayola Scoot hooked her right in. I actually enjoy this game as much as she does, beautiful smooth game with good controls and fun. Reminds me of Dave Mirra BMX. Plus many different multiplayer options, or you can just free skate. We both LOVE IT!!
UPDATE: To my dissapointment this game does not have Multiplayer or local multiplayer as it states on the store page it only has splitscreen unfortunately I bought 2 copies not realizing this.

It made my PC totally hang first time in 5 years.
After I tried to give it second chance and run it again - it just does not...
I have ordinary notebook with Win10.
I found a solution.
It was conflict with Citrix which I use for work.
You need to uninstall Citrix and install it back but with such parameters:
CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe ADDLOCAL=ReceiverInside,ICA_Client,AM,SELFSERVICE,DesktopViewer,Flash,Vd3d,WebHelper,BrowserEngine

EDIT: Crayola Scoot will be removed from Steam on December 30, 2022.
Fun little game I've only just begun. Played the first event on hard mode a few times and I'm starting to get it, had 1st place swiped from me with 1 second to go. Simple but with enough complexity to the trick options for me to enjoy.
Colorful and marketed towards kids but with few arcadey/Tony hawk esque skating (or scooting) options on Steam it was worth the pickup.
90% off and delisted tomorrow, it's been fun for me thus far and if you think you'd enjoy this game, pick it up now or never.

I've only messed about in the free play mode so far both on my own and with a friend but I can say without a doubt that this is 100% something you need to check out. If you've been hankering for a decent Tony Hawk adjacent game to play, Crayola Scoot has your back. You'd think I'm joking, but this thing wears its influences on its sleeves proudly. You got a bit of Tony Hawk in there, you got a bit of Skate in there (mainly in controls), you got a bit of Splatoon in there, hell, you even got some Jet Set Bloody Radio in there! The controls are a little fiddly to get with, but with some practice just riding about the place, you'll pick it up quickly. Scooting about the levels doing tricks feels oh-so satisfying and fun and the bouncy electroswing-y soundtrack fits the playful action perfectly. Seriously, I wasn't expecting this game to be this good...with a name like "Crayola Scoot" you'd think of it as any old licensed shovelware, but this is genuinely really damn fun. Highly recommended.

you know what's worse than the dab being a trick in the game?
the fact that the dab is your safest advanced trick option.

Got this for $1 from the Outright Games Humble Bundle, was interested in it since it's the closest PC has to Splatoon (well, aside from emulating Splatoon, of course). Didn't expect much from it, but to my surprise, it's actually pretty decent. The controls are fairly well thought out and have a lot of layers to them, tricks and combos and whatnot. Easy to learn, hard to master. I wouldn't say the paint mechanics work nearly as well as Splatoon, but they worked better than expected. I don't know if it's worth $20, but it's definitely worth the $1 I paid for it.
However, one thing to note is that there's no online play whatsoever, although there is splitscreen and supports Remote Play Together. It's a damn shame too, I feel that this could've easily gained a cult competitive following if it had online. I get it's a throwaway kids game, but still disappointing.
BTW, this game also does work on Steam Deck. The opening logos don't render at all, which could make some think that the game itself doesn't work, but it's fully playable at 60fps. Kills battery life though, at least as far as I can tell. I didn't check graphics settings, if it has any.
